Pastoral Care - We will ensure that each student s Form Teacher will follow their progress and meet their individual needs. - We will go out of our way to get to know each of our students as individuals. - We will care about our students well-being, and protect their safety at all times. Parent-Academy Communication - We believe that regular communication holds the key to building trust between HNS Staff and Parents. - We will hold progress meetings at least once a year and will issue progress reports accordingly. - We will make sure that students and parents will be able to contact their teacher by email. - We will reply to all communications from parents as soon as possible, usually within 24 hours. - We will welcome parents into the school community. Discipline - We will enforce the HNS Behaviour Policy consistently and fairly. - We will hold students to account for their actions, with appropriate reward and sanction. - We will protect the learning of students by insisting on the same set of high standards from every single child, no matter what their circumstances. We understand that this commitment will require us to go above and beyond the average expectations of a school.

We sign it voluntarily because we believe that Hackney New School is a partnership between the parents and the staff that exists to create the best possible education for our students. Position at School:

The Parent of Students at Hackney New School Learning - We believe our child is capable of academic success. - It is through hard work on the part of our child, with our support, that their potential will be realised. - We will support our child to go on school field trips and residential trips. - We understand that this will mean that they occasionally will stay away overnight. - We understand that our child will have Homework each weekend, including holidays. - We understand that the length of Homework will increase as our child progresses through the School. - We understand that it is our responsibility to ensure that Homework is completed. - We support HNS in ensuring that our child attends all Interventions, Enrichments and Detentions. Healthy Living - We understand that the School provides a healthy, balanced diet, and we support the choices made by HNS. - We will not give our child food or drinks, other than plain water, to take to School. - We will encourage our child to take part in sports and physical activities. Attendance - We will ensure our child arrives at School before 8:05 a.m. - We will not plan for family holidays or other absences during term time. - We understand that the School is not authorised to permit term-time absences. - We accept that HNS will refer any unauthorised absence of this nature to the Education Welfare Officer. - We will ensure that our child attends school every day, except in cases of illness or another legitimate reason. - We will encourage our child to attend School even if under the weather. - We will schedule routine doctor and dentist appointments during times when the School is not in session. - If our child is absent, we will telephone before 8:05 a.m. on the day of the absence to report the reason. Uniform - We will make sure our child wears the full school uniform to School each day. - We understand that uniform violations will result in the child being sent home to collect the items.

Parent to HNS Communication - We will always make ourselves available to the School by providing an up-to-date phone number and email. - We will read all reports carefully, and attend all parent meetings and parents evenings. - We will treat all HNS staff with respect and courtesy. Discipline - We have read and understood the HNS Behaviour Policy and support HNS s rules on sanctions. - We understand that Detentions happen on the day that they are given. - We understand that the standard Detention will last 45 minutes. - We understand that in some cases, double or triple Detentions may be issued. - We understand that our child cannot be excused from detention. - We understand that if our child commits a serious breach of the student code of conduct, they will stay in School until 5.30pm when we will come to the School to discuss the matter.
