GRADE LEVEL NEWS Kindergarten Hello Families! Happy November! The holidays are fast approaching! We want to give a shout out to the parents who came to parentteacher conferences and to the parents who volunteered to chaperone at our first field trip! We appreciate all the parent involvement and your support of your child s education. During, the month of November we will be focusing on the letters: I; G; F; and continue to work on word building. The sight words we are focusing on are: come; here; and this. We are excited for our first book fair of the year. It will be open in the morning on November 5 th -9 th. As you shop around, please stay mindful of the time. There are so many wonderful and exciting books that we can get wrapped up in them and forget that school starts at 7:55AM. Midterms will be distributed this month along with information on Stories that Soar and our first lock down practice. There is no school on November 12 th, 22 nd or 23 rd. November 21 st is noon dismissal. Thank you for everything! The Kindergarten Teachers First Grade Thanks to all of the wonderful parents and grandparents that came with us to the pumpkin patch last month! We had a great time and appreciate all the help! We are especially grateful to Ms. Shelley, who made this trip possible. Thank you, Ms. Shelley! Please continue to read 20 minutes nightly and turn in reading logs every Friday. Weekly reading logs are what counts for students homework grade. As we enter into the season of thanks and giving, know that we are so thankful for our Homer Davis families and appreciate all you give for the success of your students. Happy Thanksgiving, Mrs. Power and Mrs. Thomas Second Grade The second grade team truly enjoyed meeting with all of our families for conferences! Thank you! ~ The Second Grade Team ~ Mrs. McCain, Ms. Kiecolt & Mrs. Howe Third Grade November is here and so is the 2nd quarter! We really enjoyed meeting with the parents that came for conferences. Now that we have one quarter over it is a good time to start making goals with your student for this quarter. Getting to school on time is very important, so continue to get here with enough time for breakfast before the bell. Please have your child practicing their math facts at home and memorizing their multiplication facts as this will help students with their understanding and fluency with division! Third graders are also learning and practicing their cursive every day. It is a good idea to be practicing at home too. We are also starting a new science unit on Ecosystems and are excited to learn about the different ecosystems around the world! Please remember that it is important to turn in homework every day and read the assigned chapter every night. Students who do not complete their work will miss out on class activities and upcoming fieldtrips. Please continue to call or visit any of the teachers if you have any problems. Thank you, Your Third Grade Teachers
