Year 11 Trial Exam Preparation and Revision Booklet November to 2018 Name Form
Year 11 Trial Examination Preparation and Revision Booklet The aim of this booklet is to help you prepare for your trial exams which will be taking place from 3 rd to 20 th. Why do I need to prepare and revise for my trial exams? It is important that you take these exams seriously and perform to the best of your ability because; They are your last practice in all your subjects before your final exams. They are used to inform the teachers what predicted grade they will be giving you. These are used for sixth form, college and further education applications. They are used to inform the exam boards of your performance to date. If there is a reason for your absence in the summer exam the exam board use these to inform the grade they can award you. They may also request your trial exam paper as evidence to prove you are working at the level predicted. The results of your exams will be sent home to your parents. But most importantly they inform you and your teachers what aspects of the work you need to improve on in the final run up to the exams. What are the school doing to help me prepare for my trial exams? We are running a structured revision programme over the half term in the lead up to the exams. This booklet is designed to help by providing the following: Year 11 Revision Timetable this outlines the revision sessions being run by each subject. The day, time and room are provided and will run over the half term. Subject specific revision topics subjects have outlined the topic they will be covering in each revision session over the next half term. A revision log for you to track you are revising and using the sessions that are being provided. White spaces should be completed with revision sessions and grey spaces for independent revision. An exemplar revision timetable use this or create your own. What do you have to do? Look through the booklet with your parents and decide on which subjects and topics would be best for you to attend in order to perform well in the exams. Attend at least three revision sessions each week. Do at least two further revision activities at home.(this is in addition to the Prep you will be completing) Complete the log in the back of the booklet showing what you have attended and what you have revised. Fill in the sessions in the white boxes and independent revision in the grey ones. Bring this to your form tutor who will sign to say you have achieved this. What is in it for me? You will perform better in your exams through being well prepared. This will give a true indication of your progress and what you need to improve for the summer. You will be less stressed for your exams in and in the summer as you will feel confident and prepared. Revision you do now will also help for your summer exams, long term revision is the way you will achieve the best grades possible. You will receive a reward signature for every session you attend and also one from your tutor when you have completed five revision activities in a week. You will need to attend at least 30 of these sessions over the year and under normal circumstances have a 95% attendance record in order to buy your ticket to the prom at the end of the year.
Year 11 Trial Revision Timetable Students should attend at least 3 sessions each week. To help them identify which sessions would be best for them to attend the list of topics being covered each week is included in the remainder of this booklet.
