KAKARAPARTI BHAVANARAYANA COLLEGE (AUTONOMOUS) Examination Reforms 1. Question papers for Semester End Examinations are prepared according to the latest syllabi and model question papers approved by the Board of Studies and ratified by the Academic Council. 2. Students who repeat a semester will have to take the Semester End Examinations with the syllabi ratified by the Academic Council and corresponding to the model question papers which are in force at that time and also such students clear all the new added subjects of their previous semester and duly signi8ng an undertaking letter to that effect. 3. Grace Period: A student who is not able to complete his/her degree studies within 3 years is given a maximum period of 6 years from the date of Admission to appear for his/her Supplementary examinations to complete the degree course. 4. All candidates have to answer the question papers in the medium as specified in their applications for admission into the course. No change of medium will be permitted thereafter. UNIQUE FEATURES OF EVALUATION & EXAMINATION REFORMS: The examination system is classified into two parts i.e, Internal (CIA-25%) and External (SEE-75%). Students should get 40% in Ist year and 2 nd year, 35% in 3 rd year in order to get through the examination during the academic year 2016-17 Online internal examination for computer subjects for all groups will be conducted for 40 marks duration 30 minutes. For the students who are admitted during the academic year 2017-18: The examination system is classified into two parts i.e., Continuous Internal Assessment 25%(CIA) and Semester-end Examination-75%(SEE). Student should get 40% in order to get through the examination during the academic year 2017-18. Online Mid-II (internal) examination will be conducted for all subjects of all groups to the students who are admitted form the academic year 2017-18. Online examination will be conducted for 30 marks and with a duration of 30 minutes.

EVALUATION: The college follows evaluation system based on Continuous Internal Assessment (CIA) and Semester-End Examination (SEE). All the students have to pay the prescribed fee for both theory as well as practical examinations. No student will be allowed to take examinations without the payment of fee. Students will not be promoted to next semester, if they did not pay present semester examination fee. THEORY: The 100/50 marks allotted for each theory paper in a semester. For 100 marks paper marks are distributed 25:75(CIA:SEE), for 50 marks paper no CIA only SEE. V. It consists of tests, assignments and regular attendance during the semester. 25 marks allotted for CIA are distributed as follows. S. They have to approach the respective lecturers for appearing for remid examination. Note: There is no Re-mid for online Internal Examination. MID TESTS: Each mid test is held approximately after 40 or 45 days of instruction. The Mid-1 written test will be conducted for 30 marks and for 1 ½ hour duration. Two tests will be conducted per day. The Mid-2 Online test will be conducted for 30 minutes as per the scyhedule bulleting at the time of examination. Re-mid Test (supplementary CIA exam): Re-mid test will be conducted at the end of each semester I n the entire syllabus, only to those students who had failed in CIA i.e., for those who did not obtain 10 out of 25 mar4ks they will be given permission only after paying the necessary Re-mid test fee.

They have to approach the respective lecturers for appearing for the Remid Examination. Note: There is no Re mid for online internal examination. MID TESTS: Each Mid Test is held approximately after 40 or 45 days of instruction. The Mid Test will be conducted for 40 marks and for 1 ½ hour duration. Two tests will be conducted per

day. The students must preserve the mid test answer scripts of each semester until the marks statements are issued. ONLINE INTERNAL EXAMINATION: For the Computer Subject in all groups, online exam will be conducted at the end of each semester in the entire syllabus for 40 marks and for 30 minute duration. RE-MID TEST: (Supplementary C.I.A Exam). Re-mid test will be conducted at the end of the semester in the entire syllabus, only to those students who failed in CIA i.e for those who did not obtain 10 out of 25 marks they will be given permission only after paying the necessary re-mid test free. PRACTICALS Practical examinations are held at the end of each semester i.s odd-sem and even-sem to the students under CBCS. No supplementary examination will be conducted. Students will be divided into batches for practical examinations. Each batch has to take the examination on the specified dates as per the schedule. Out of 50 marks 25 is the pass mark (50%). The student should have at least 90 percent attendance in laboratory work during the sem. Every student should submit a duly certified record by their respective HOD, at the time of the practical exam. If a student fails to submit the record he/she loses 10 marks out of the 50 marks. CHOICE BASED CREDIT SYSTEM (CBCS) K.B.N College (Autonomous) has started implementing choice based credit system for the UG Programmes from the academic year 2015-16 Credit: A Course Credit is a unit that gives weightage to the value, level or time requirements of the academic Subject. One credit normally represents 15 to 20 hours of formal lectures or equivalent. Most of the subjects are valued at three credits every semester. Credit attempted: The number of attempted credits is the total number of credits that have been registered for and are used to calculate the CGPA. Each degree program contains a minimum of 130 and maximum of 140 credits. Course is divided into the following categories. Core courses Core course practicals. Ability Enhancing Compulsory Courses(AECC)

Foundation Courses. Grades and Its Numerical Values: Grades in the realm of education are standardized measurements of varying levels of comprehension within a subject area. Grades can be assigned in the letters (for example O,A,B,C,D AND F). Each letter grade has a specific numeric value assigned. Grade will be awarded on the basis of marks secured on a 10 point scale. Grade Point: The grade point represents student s performance in a subject. To determine grade points, the number of credits for the subject is multiplied by the numerical value of the letter Grade. SGPA = S(C8GP0/SC CGPA = SSGPA/6 (at the end of VI sem) C is the Credits of the subjects GP is the Grade Points of the subjects Passed after 3 rd year or VI Semester, he/she will be awarded C grade and 3 rd class.

DECLARATION OF RESULTS: All the valued answer scripts are scrutinized at the Controller of Examination Office before the declaration of results to ensure fairness in evaluation. After deliberations at the Awards Committee meeting, results will be declared. APPEALS: CIA Valuation & Rectification: Students who have any grievances about the Mid Test and in the tabulation of CIA marks may be brought to the notice of the Principal and Controller of Exams respectively within 24 hours for settling the matter. REVALUATION: A candidate may also apply for revaluation of any paper in any subject within in one week of the declaration of results and may obtain photo copies of answer scripts after paying prescribed fee within one week of the declaration of the results. If the difference is more than 20% or 15 marks, the answer script will be sent for a third valuation. The average of the first and third valuation marks (whichever is maximmum) will be considered as the final marks of the candidate. BETTERMENT: A candidate who passes in all the papers of a semester I to V (both CIA & SEE) is eligible to appear at the immediate succeeding SEE for improvement in any/all papers of the concerned semester by paying the prescribed fee. Marks are compared with the previous marks and higher marks of the two will be considered. A Successful Candidate in VI Semester in not allowed to Reappear for Betterment.

COMPUTATION OF CLASS: Computation of class will be carried out only at the end of VI Semester, when the candidate gets through all the 6 semesters. A student is eligible for the award of a class only when he/she completes the part-ii (Group) subjects within three academic years from the date of admission into the course. Computation of class is done as follows Less than 40% Failed 40-49 % Third 50-59 % Second 60-74 % First 75 % a & Above Distinction NOTE: Any pass after the stipulated limit will be tr5eated as third class, irrespective of the percentage of marks scored. It will be indicated by an (*) in the cumulative marks statement. MEMORANDUM OF MARKS: Semester-wise marks memoranda will be issued to all the registered candidates as and when they are ready. Students who are on leave on the day of issue of memoranda of marks have to collect them immediately after their return. The authorities concerned are not obliged to give memoranda of marks after 90 days from the date of issue. Cumulative marks statements are issued to successful candidates at the end of the course on payment of the prescribed fee. Students are expected to preserve all their memoranda of marks for future reference. It may be noted that no duplicate marks memoranda will be issued as a routine. In case of loss or damage, duplicate memoranda will be issued after completing the required legal formalities and paying the prescribed fee. MALPRACTICE: The college takes a serious view of the unfair methods in all the theory and practical examinations. Influencing the teaching and non-teaching staff at any time by the candidates for any advantage is also considered as malpractice. Cases of malpractice noticed at any stage are severely punishable. Cancellation of all the written examinations already taken and to be taken by the candidate during that specified period is the immediate minimum punishment.

If students are caught for malpractice in the annual practical examinations, all the practical examinations of that specified period will be cancelled. If students are booked for malpractice in the mid semester examination, they will not be permitted to appear for the re-mid examination. If any student is found guilty of malpractice on more than one occasion during his/her stay in the college, he/she may be prohibited from pursuing further studies. A student of Semester VI found guilty of malpractice on more than one occasion may be debarred from examinations for one year. In all cases of malpractice, the decision of the committee for Malpractices is final and binding. The committee will take the procedure of the rules and regulations related to malpractice cases which will come into force with the approval of the academic council. All malpractice cases will be decided based on these rules and the recommendations of the malpractices enquiry committee shall be approved by the Principal.
