GRADUATION PROGRAM (Grades 10-12) 80 Credits All Courses offered at Pinetree are 4 credits 2 1. Required 48 credits: Language Arts 10, 11, 12 (English or Communications) 12 credits Social Studies 10 4 credits Social Studies 11 or 12 4 credits Science 10 4 credits Science 11 or 12 (Ch, Ph, Bi, Earth Science, Sc &Tech) 4 credits Mathematics 10 4 credits Mathematics 11 or 12 4 credits Physical Education 10 4 credits Fine Arts or Applied Skills 10, 11 or 12 4 credits Career Life Education 10 4 credits 2. Career Life Connections 12 4 credits 3. Electives (Grade 10, 11 and 12 - depends on focus studies) 28 credits TOTAL 80 credits A minimum of 16 credits must be at the Grade 12 level. This includes 4 credits for a Language Arts 12 course, but does not include the 4 credits for Career Life Connections 12.

2018 Graduation Requirements Grade 10 and 11 provincials ended June 2016. Students will be required to complete Numeracy and Literacy assessments as part of the grad program Numeracy Assessment: After completing Math 10, students will be required to complete the numeracy assessment as a graduation requirement. Literacy Assessment: Students graduating in 2019/2020 (Current grade 10 students) will be required to write the Literacy Assessment as a graduation requirement The English 12 Provincial will no longer be written

Language Courses UBC requires a grade 11 language i.e. French 11 SFU requires at minimum a beginners language 11 i.e. Beginners Spanish 11 An External Language 11 Language 11 or 12 challenge is accepted by most Universities. Writing 12 For: Students who have completed English 10 and would like to improve their writing skills This course is designed to help students prepare for senior-level writing at the grade 12 and postsecondary levels. Students will be expected to have at least basic proficiency in the English language. Emphasis will be on using the Writing Process (prewriting, drafting, editing, proof-reading, and submitting) and

Post Secondary Education: SFU Admission Changes Fall 2020 Students who are currently in grade 10 applying to SFU in 2020 Required Grade 11 courses: English 11 Math 11 Min 60% (Pre Calculus or Foundations 11) Language 11 (beginner language 11 or higher) Science 11 (chemistry, physics, biology or earth science) Socials 11 or 12 Required Grade 12 courses: English 12 minimum final grade of 70% Minimum of 5 Grade 12 courses, including English 12, from SFU s approved course list Admission based on all Grade 11 & 12 courses (SFU approved course list) Program-specific approved courses and minimum course grades for some programs. https://www.sfu.ca/students/counsellors/approved-courses.html

SFU Quantitative Requirements (this has not changed) 70% in Foundations of Math 11, Precalculus 11 or Precalculus 12 depending on the program you are applying to OR 60-69% in the applicable Math course plus a score at least 20/30 on a diagnostic skills test (Q Placement test) at SFU before beginning their quantitative courses OR 60-69% in in the applicable Math course plus complete within your 1 st year a Foundations of Analytical and Quantitative Reasoning course with a grade of C or better before beginning quantitative courses at SFU

SFU English Language Skills Requirements (this has not changed) 75% or higher in English 12 OR (in order to take a first year English course) A grade of 60-74% in Eng 12 plus a score of 4 on the essay section of the LPI exam and a minimum score of 50% on all other parts of the LPI exam OR A grade of 60-74% in Eng 12 plus with in your 1 st year complete of a Foundations in Academic Literacy course with a C or higher

UBC Admission Fall 2019 We are currently do not have an update on UBC new admission requirements. Please go to the website to check on the new admission requirements for 2019. http://you.ubc.ca/applying-ubc/canadian-highschools/ Be aware: UBC will look at your grade 11 courses. Example: If you are taking English 12 in semester 2, they will consider your English 11 mark for acceptance.

Post Secondary Education: University of Victoria Admission Averages are based on General Admission Requirements English 12 and 3 additional approved academic grade 12 courses Grade 11 requirements English 11, Social Studies 11, Pre-calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 11 (depending on the faculty), an Academic Science 11 (Bi 11, Ch 11, E. Post Secondary Education: University of Toronto University of Toronto s Policy on Repeated Courses: Individual programs at U of T reserve the right to give preference to students whose marks are the result of a first attempt at each course, particularly in prerequisite subjects Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering generally consider first attempts ONLY. Number Of Courses Grade 11 s must enroll in 8 courses Extra Courses: Jazz Band, Choir, and Vocal Jazz, Musical orchestra, Leadership 11, Athletic leadership, Desktop Publishing 11 (these would be in addition to your 8 courses) Most students will graduate with more than 80 credits 30

PINETREE Mathematics for Grade 11 One Math 11 course is required for graduation: Workplace Mathematics 11 Pre-Calculus 11 Foundations of Math 11(Bridge) 31 The main purpose of this course is to provide students the opportunity to gain a stronger foundation in the academic stream of Mathematics. Topics are similar to the Pre-Calculus 10 curriculum and attempts to bridge some topics taught in the Pre-Calculus 11 course. Students eager to enroll in Pre-Calculus 11 should aim for a minimum of a B in this course. Recommended for students who received less than 60% in Foundations of Math &Pre-Calc 10
