I. Self-Study Format and Deliverables MICA seeks to utilize NASAD s available custom format for self-study review. This format will enable the College to show compliance with all of NASAD s Standards for Accreditation while making efficient use of the College s concurrent engagement in intuitional self-study for our regional accrediting body, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Using this format for self-study, MICA proposes three deliverables: 1. NASAD Self-Study Report a. b. Related Appendices (in electronic format) 2. NASAD Management Documents Portfolio (in electronic format) 3. MSCHE Self-Study Report a. Narrative b. Related Appendices (in electronic format) The NASAD reviewers will be provided with a report that is focused on the Programs Portfolio and includes related appendices. The Management Documents Portfolio will also be delivered as evidence of compliance with various NASAD standards. In addition to this report, we will provide our MSCHE Self-Study document a 100-page narrative including chapters addressing each of MSCHE s seven standards for accreditation. Along with these materials, MICA will provide concordance tables that will direct the readers to the appropriate Report and section for each of the NASAD Standards (examples of these tables follow in Sections III and IV of this document). II. Organizational Structure The work of the self-study will be organized and overseen by a Steering Committee which will provide regular updates to MICA s President and the Board of Trustees. The Steering Committee will guide and collaborate with eight Working Groups which have been formed around MSCHE s standards (7) with an additional small, specialized Working Group that will address MSCHE s Requirements for Affiliation. By utilizing this structure to support our work toward NASAD reaffirmation of accreditation, MICA will be using one internal process to complete two complementary self-study products. The following chart outlines this organizational structure. 2
Along with their charge to describe to what extent MICA meets the MSCHE and NASAD accreditation requirements, Working Groups will be given a NASAD/MSCHE crosswalk document to be used as reference in ensuring that NASAD standards not concentrated on in the NASAD Self-Study Report, are adequately addressed in their MSCHE Self-Study chapter. The MSCHE Self-Study Design Plan and Documentation Roadmap required documents in their reaccreditation process accompanying this NASAD Plan for Self-Study, provide additional detail on the overall institutional self-study process, desired outcomes, and source information being used in selfstudy. 3
