SESSION : 2018-19 SUBJECT : ENGLISH Assessment of Speaking and Listening (ASL) Communicative Skills in English Language Post content task Through this activity the students are expected to: communicate effectively and confidently in spoken language in a wide range of situations. prepare, organise and deliver an engaging oral presentation. identify and use appropriate vocabulary. use the appropriate tone, posture, gesture, pause and maintain eye contact while speaking. listen to a wide range of oral texts, summarize, record and respond to them. listen critically for specific information. follow instructions and directions. distinguish between facts and opinions Duration Listening task- 40 minutes Speaking task - 3-5 periods Task / Tools/ Techniques For testing listening skill, an audio track will be played, and worksheets will be given to the students. For testing speaking skill, the students will present a Verbal Composition for about one minute. The topics for the same, will be given by the teacher a week prior to their presentation. Execution of task / Procedure For the listening task, the students will hear a recording of the Listening Input or listen to a reading of the listening input. The recording will be played twice. The students are required to answer a set of
questions based on it. For the Speaking test the total administration time for the speaking assessment would be approximately 1-2 minutes. The speaking test will be conducted for each student individually. In case a student is not able to speak, the teacher will give another opportunity to the student. Criteria / Rubrics for assessment The following will be the criteria for assessing the Speaking task: Relevance of Content/ Creativity- 4 marks Language Accuracy- 3 marks Fluency, Stress and Intonation - 2 marks The marking key for the Listening task is prepared before the test is administered. At the end of the test, the answer scripts are collected and marked. Values imparted through the The Assessment of Speaking and Listening Skills aims at developing values of patient and impartial listening. The speaking test teaches values of speaking at the right time, concisely and meaningfully. The teacher gives feedback of the work and suggests ways to improve speaking and writing skills. Evaluation and feedback of the peers is also encouraged. More such tasks can be taken up for enhancing listening and speaking skills.
SUBJECT : MATHEMATICS VARIOUS PARTS OF POLYGONS BASIC GEOMETRICAL IDEAS Individual a) Students will be able to enhance their learning skills in an activity based manner. b) Along with knowledge, kinesthetic skills will also be developed and these activities will show them the geometrical side of mathematics. Procedure STEP 1 Cut out two polygons namely a square and pentagon (five sided polygon) and paste it on two separate colourful A4 size sheets. Along with this, name the square as PQRS and pentagon as ABCDE.
