JOSEPH S HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL, BARAMULLA SYLLABUS FOR CLASS 2 nd ( 2017-18) MODUS OPERANDI / APPROACH TO THE SYLLABUS AIM OF THE SYLLABUS IN EACH SUBJECT: 1) Self grasp on the content of the chapters. ( Parents do need to spent time with your child) 2) Making the child to raise questions on the content he/she has read or understood. 3) Help the student to connect the content of the different chapters, including the co- relation of the subjects. 4) To do away with mugging, by heart learning method, or simply copying from text or from others. FOR THE TEACHERS, PARENTS AND THE STUDENTS: 1) Main focus: Reading skill, writing skill, speaking skill and identifying skill. 2) Care should be taken to groom the student in the above given skills 3) Towards the Text Book contents: Self reading, self comprehension, Pronunciation & word meaning of difficult words by referring the dictionary. 4) The given work-out exercises contents at the end of chapter is just a taste of varied questions that could be made use of to evaluate the students grasp on the chapter during timely assessment methods. 5) Every chapter will be accompanied by an Assignment (in written or project or scrap book pasting) which is obligatory/compulsory and it adds to the weightage of academics in the respective subject. 6) In subjects languages, Computer/ Moral Science/ cursive Writing/ GK, the Student should be guided to do selfreading, understand and write/speak with much clarity. 7) Subjects like mathematics need conceptual understanding and not mugging.
