The aim of the Europass Decision (No. 2241/2004/EC) of 15 December 2004 To establish a single framework for achieving the transparency of qualifications and competences There are five documents, certain of which are available online

A portfolio of documents with a common brand name and a common logo, supported by adequate information systems: the Network of National Europass Centers (NEC) Each NEC has his own website The European portal is managed by Cedefop

Why Europass? To help citizens to make their skills, qualifications and competences clearly and easily understood throughout Europe and to promote mobility The portfolio concerns : Learners Job seekers - Workers Employers Companies Higher Education Institutions Education and Training Institutions

EUROPASS: A portfolio consisting of five documents Two documents are filled out by the citizen himself: The Europass CV The Europass Language Passport

The Europass CV to be completed on line by individuals standardised lay out throughout Europe choice of 26 languages presents qualifications and training pathways based on the «logic skills»

The Certificate Supplement An instrument providing transparency in vocational training (VET) Issues by public training institutions, it supplements the certificate, describing in greater detail the qualifications gained and skills acquired. A tool to present different European level EQF,ECVET.

The Diploma Supplement An instrument providing transparency in Higher Education Based on a standardised template of eight categories (European Commission, Council of Europe and UNESCO / CEPES) Regulated at national level

The Europass Mobility is issued to any person having experienced mobility in the context of an apprenticeship, a training course or work placement in Europe, whatever his age or his level of training. Available for mobility financed by EU LLP programs (Leonardo, Erasmus ) or non-eu funded initiatives (at national or regional level )

A future European Skill Passport ESP will replace and upgrade the existing EM by broadening its scope. ESP will record and present skills acquired also in one s own country or in another European country. ESP will concern domestic mobility for learning purpose, traineeships and volunteering.
