AL-FALAH UNIVERSITY FARIDABAD 121004 (HARYANA) ADMISSION TO Ph.D. PROGRAMME 2015 Application on prescribed form from eligible candidates are invited for admission to Ph.D. Programme in Al-Falah University, Faridabad, as per UGC (Minimum Standards & Procedure for award of M.Phill/ Ph.D. Degree) regulations 2009 dated 01.06.2009 published in the gazette of India dated 11 July 2009. Eligibility Criteria for Admission: A candidate for admission to the programme for Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must have obtained at least a Second Class Masters Degree with not less than 55% marks of a University or a Degree recognized by the University as its equivalent in the subject in which the candidate wishes to pursue a course of research or in a subject allied thereto. Entrance Test: Entrance Test is mandatory for all candidates. The entrance test will be for screening the applicants in order to determine their suitability for admission to Ph.D. Programme of the concerned department. Qualifying the entrance test will entitle them to appear in the interview. The entrance test shall be based on two sets of question papers as specified below. Both test papers will be conducted back to back. The following category of candidates shall be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test for the Ph.D. Programme. i) Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET Test or have successfully completed M.Phil Programme of two years duration from a recognized university / institution. ii) The teacher fellowship holders of the recognized college / university / institution provided that the competent employing authority issues a No Objection Certificate to the candidate to join the Ph.D. Programme and an undertaking that the candidate will be granted leave for the duration of the required course work. iii) ICCR sponsored candidates. The candidates seeking an exemption from the Entrance Test shall have to submit the proof in support of their exemption. The candidates who have been granted exemption from appearing in the Entrance Test shall have to follow rest of the admission process as per the schedule and fulfill all other requirements as per the Ordinance / Rules / Regulations for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy of AFU. Paper 1 (The First Set of Question Paper): Duration: 1 Hour 50 multiple choice (Objective type questions) 100 mark. Each Correct answer 2marks and each wrong answer negative one marks.

Coverage: General knowledge, Teaching & research aptitude, reasoning, comprehension, language, writing & analytical skills & contemporary issues relevant to research & higher education. Paper 2 (The Second Set of Question Paper): Duration: 1 Hours Coverage: Advanced knowledge of the subject concerned. Syllabus of the subject is same as that of UGC/CSIR NET. The second test of question paper shall include 25 multiple choice questions of 50 marks and 5 to 10 descriptive type questions of 50 marks. Negative marking in MCQ as mentioned for Paper one Criterion to Qualify for Interview: The candidates obtaining at least 50% marks separately in Paper 1 and Paper 2 in the Entrance Test shall qualify for the Interview. Interview: Qualified candidates shall be called for an Interview before the Board of Research Studies (BORS). The list of selected candidates as approved by BORS and Vice Chancellor, AFU will be displayed by the Coordinator, Ph.D. Programme. Course Work: All the candidates provisionally admitted to Ph.D. Prgramme will be required to complete the prescribed course work for at least one semester duration. If a candidate fails to successfully complete the required course work within the duration of one semester he/she may be given another opportunity to complete it with the next batch of candidates. The application form for admission may be obtained either from the Admission Office, AFU, or from the Administrative Head Office 274/A, Al-Falah House, Okhla, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi-110025, on payment of Rs 1,000/-. It can be downloaded from the website of AFU (www.alfalahuniversity.edu.in) and the same may be submitted to the Coordinator, Ph.D. Programme on or before the due date along with a crossed Demand Draft/Cheque of Rs 1,000/- in favour of Al- Falah University, payable at New Delhi.
