INTRODUCTION schools are public schools in that exercise increased levels of autonomy in exchange for increased levels of accountability. They are able to make decisions about curriculum, staffing, and budgets based on the specific students enrolled in their schools. In exchange for this increased autonomy, charter schools are held accountable to an increasing set of accountability expectations year-on-year in order to continue serving students in. There are six types of charter schools in, outlined in the table below. The oversight for Type 1, 3, and 3B charter schools lies with the local district by which the schools are authorized, while the Department of (LDOE) is directly responsible for the oversight of Type, 4, and charter schools. The Compact was developed as a collaborative effort between schools and the LDOE with the common objective of providing a clear bar for accountability for all charters schools in our state. The Compact assesses schools on their ability to operate as sound, independent entities. s receive an annual review that includes Academic,, and Scores. The Academic Score mirrors the Score received by all public schools in the state. performance is evaluated using the Fiscal Risk Assessment and annual audit submitted by charter schools. performance is determined by a review of a school s performance on indicators listed in the CSPC related to enrollment, special populations, and compliance with law and policy. An overview of the academic, financial, and organizational performance for all Type, 4, and charter schools can be found in the appendix of this report.
