Notes to Applicants: 1. This application applies to two types of student jobs. a) Grader: Hourly position for which timesheets are submitted every 2 weeks. The hourly wage is $11.50/hour; however, actual pay depends amount of work performed and submitted which is, in part, a function of the number of students in the class. Graders must meet expectations of the course Instructor of Record, which include grading and returning assignments in a timely manner. Graders must attend an orientation meeting at the beginning of each semester of employment. b) MathLab Facilitators: Interested applicants for MathLab facilitator positions should review the Math Lab Employment Policies taking note of the staffing assignment priority list for the MathLab positions. 2. Although applying for more than one position is possible, the UNT Dept. of Mathematics seeks to distribute available positions to qualified applicants in a fair and equitable manner. Applicants should not expect to receive more than one type of job assignment. 3. Student employees are limited to work assignments of a maximum 20 hours per week. 4. Applying for: MathLab Tutor Position Includes: Working assigned shift(s) in MathLab, working with students one-on-one. The departmental priority system for staffing the MathLab is: 1. Mathematics undergraduate minors Consideration is given to other students on an individual basis given their previous mathematics academic background and staffing availability. Applicant must: 1. Have completed 1720 (Cal II) and have a 3.0 GPA in all math courses. Priority will be given to applicants who can effectively assist with all courses tutored in the MathLab. Essential qualifications: 1. Competent in working with students (Accuracy of academic content; ability to effectively interact, assess, and communicate with students in a respectful manner.) 2. Punctual and consistent in maintaining shift attendance. 3. Professional attitude towards development of tutoring skills; this includes staying abreast of current needs of the MathLab and presentation of academic content in each course. 4. Willing to attend orientations and training workshops as scheduled. 5. Able to work well in team environment and under direction of assigned Shift Supervisor. 6. Must be currently enrolled as a student as a condition of employment. 7. Must be in academic good standing and making satisfactory progress toward degree.
