Bruce Bradley 972-596-5505 bbradley@eseton.org Deputy Grand Knight Bob Brennan 972-618-4559 bbrennansr@verizon.net Grand Knight s Report Bob Causer Brother Knights, as we begin this fraternal year let us be ever mindful of our many blessings. We here at Council 7850, have one of the finest groups of Knights in Texas, or anywhere else, I believe we get more accomplished, as a Council than any one could imagine. I hope this will continue and I can see no reason why it will not. July is a quite month as far as council activities go, but things will heat up in August, beginning with the Passbook sales, the Diocesan Squires Meetings, Special Olympics, return of Pancake Breakfast, more Passbook sales, rosary being said in the newly reopened activities center chapel. I am thankful for the help that the officers and members give to our council to make it the truly vibrant and wonderful group of Catholic Gentlemen, to be associated with them is a blessing. Lets all pitch in, and help in the coming months with the activities so everyone has a share in making our Council that much better. Our membership goal this fraternal year has been raised to 29 so lets all bring in a new member by February so we don't have a worry. Vivat Jesus July 2012 Bob Causer GK Inside this issue: GK Report 1 Family Picnic 2 New Knights 3 Schedule 4-6 Event Pictures 7-8 Knight of the Month July Gregg Shields Gregg is the Knight of the month for July, but he really is every month. His tireless effort to keep our council in the news is nonstop, from writing stories about our activities, to getting pictures published from Texas to Hartford, Conn., he is forever pressing to keep our name at the forefront of the news. Anything about Council 7850 is newsworthy, it is what Gregg thinks, and so do we all. Thanks for all you do Gregg. Family of the Month July Bob & Mary Ann Wilson Bob & Mary Ann are truly doers. When an activity or project come up both are first in line to help, and lend their support to whoever is in charge. Bob is one of our new guards, he is also chairman of the Passbook sales for this year, he is an usher & sings in the church choir. Mary Ann wears many hats and wears them very well, she is a new officer in the Ladies Auxiliary, and is the driving force behind Bob, keeping him in line. Thanks to you both for all you do.

VOLUME 9, ISSUE 7 KNIGHT LIFE Family Picnic I want to thank everyone who came to the annual Family Picnic and made it another fun event. The weather on June 22nd was a little warm (read hot!) but many had fun swimming and playing games. The event took place at Plano Country Place Clubhouse, which has been our host for over a decade, now! The setting is beautiful and the air-conditioned dining room is always a blessing this time of year. Our attendance was 50 adults & 10 children who thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. We had a total head count of 60, nine less than last year. The families had fun playing golf toss, horseshoes, bongo boards (thanks for bring those Dan Z.), and using the swings, playground, etc. The thanks are numerous again this year. Bob Causer helped with the shopping and then Bob and Ray Vasinda helped get everything put together and trucked over to the clubhouse and set up. Alex Mauricio helped with rearranging and setting up the dining room tables. My wife, Carol, and Alex & Irma Mauricio and Pat Kistner helped get the food set out for serving. Thanks to Frank Haas and Bob Causer for an excellent cooking job! And thanks to Dave Duff and Moe LaVerdure for helping with check-in. Thanks to the ladies for the wonderful appetizers and desserts. We were kind of heavy on desserts this year and need to plan better next year. The Tree House kitchen clean up crew included Carol Goode, Carmen Haas, Pat Kistner, Alex & Irma Mauricio. Alex Mauricio, Frank Haas and Bob Causer helped get the tables and chairs folded and put back in the closet. My thanks to Bob Causer, and Frank Haas for helping get the large coolers and supplies back to the FFC. And, as always, thanks to Minh Tran for taking pictures. The clean up and Country Place check-list process went very smooth. And, once again, we left the grounds in excellent condition. I appreciate the tremendous help and support and apologize to anyone I failed to mention individually. Jim Goode PAGE 2

VOLUME 9, ISSUE 7 KNIGHT LIFE Six new Knights Join the Council PAGE 3 Please join us in congratulating six new knights who joined our council in a moving ceremony on July 16 th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Andrew Ortiz, Joe McCreary, Joshua Gregory, Gary Wheat, Rohan Misquith, and Michael Apt all became knights in the First Degree along with four other new knights from around the area. Our newest members are eager to meet brother knights from council 7850, and to get started participating in some of our projects and activities. Help us make them feel welcomed by saying hello and offering your support.
