Week ending 29 March 2018 Senior Student Appointments After a very enjoyable day interviewing last week we were faced with some very hard decisions in terms of those who made the Senior Student Team. As a result of the exceptionally high standard of applicant this year we have expanded the team to cover the different areas of responsibilities: School Council, the House System & specific Year Groups. Fundraising in aid of Sport Relief Members of staff came together for a game of netball last week in aid of Sport Relief. A very competitive game of fun and laughter was played as students enjoyed and supported their teachers. The results are: Head Girl: Head Boy: Neve Sanders Daniel Roch Deputy Head Boys: Joe Lardner, Alfie Cottingham-Mayall, Sam Coyne & Jacob Smith Deputy Head Girls: Dulcie Crosby, Holly Donohoe, Charlotte Hemsley, Katy Jones, Aimée Shannon & Bridget Skinner I am sure you will join me in congratulating them all Mr Faust - Assistant Head Lee Byrne visits On Wednesday we had the pleasure of a visit from former Wales and British Lions Full Back Lee Byrne. He met with our aspiring rugby students and afterwards worked with smaller groups in a series of motivational workshops. Spring Concert We had a fantastic Spring Concert on Tuesday evening celebrating the work of the GCSE music students. The concert featured soloists from all GCSE classes but with a particular focus on the Year 11's. A special mention must be made of Charles Matthews in Year 13 for whom it was the last concert at Park House. He has been a dedicated musician at the school for 7 years and we wish him all the best for his future.

Thank you to all the musicians and the tech team involved in the concert. It was a very memorable evening full of extremely high standard performances. Miss van Kempen - Head of Music Fundraising for MS-UK 100 Million Minutes Reading Challenge UPDATE This week marks the end of 100,00 minutes of Reading. It s been a wonderful initiative and we would like to send a huge thank you and congratulations to everyone who participated so enthusiastically. Special commendations to our winners each week and to everyone who supported this wonderful focus on reading in school. Sporting Results A selection of cakes were baked and enjoyed today as students raised funds for MS-UK. Last week s results: The boys 1st XI Football Team lost 3-0 to Kennet with Toby Albert getting Man Of The Match (MOTM). Over 90 was collected. Thank you all Notices Year 8 Vaccinations Year 8 girls are due to have their HPV vaccinations in school on Wednesday 25 April 2018? Mrs Kennedy-Compston In School Nurse Year 11 Netball Team came 3rd in the district tournament. The squad were: Amy Evans, Leisha Hayward, Emily Bettles, Mai Brown, Anna Montagne, Gracie Matthews, Chloe Gallagher and Ella Holmes. Year 8 Boys 'A' Team lost 8-0 to Claire's Court with Angus Magee getting MOTM. Year 8 'B' Yeam lost 4-1 against Claire's Court with Callum Theyer getting our only goal and Charlie Wilson got MOTM. Year 7 'A' team lost 3-0 against Claire's Court with Jack Daley getting MOTM and the 'B' Team drew with Claire's Court 0-0. Year 7 Netballers went away to PGL at the weekend and played in a netball tournament. The 'A' team beat Claremont 5-2. Goals came from Grace & Beth and Millie C got POTM. They then lost 6-3 to Gloucester and lost 7-5 to Blenheim High School. Grace and Beth scoring all our goals again. Then went on to beat another Claremont side 5-2 with

goals from Grace and Beth. Jess T got POTM. The 'B' Team lost 2-0 to Claremont with Izzy T getting POTM. They lost to Gloucester 8-0 with Sophie C getting POTM. Their last two matches were against St Telios 'A' and B' Team. The girls won 8-1 against the 'A' team, goals coming from Sophie Casey & Zoe Whittington and Zoe also got POTM. They went on to beat the 'B' team 14-0 with goals from Sophie & Zoe again and Megan Varney got POTM. In the annual Staff v 6th Form Football fixture, the staff ran out comfortable 4-1 winners (which will keep the 6th Formers quiet for a while we hope!). Goals from Mr Holland x2, Mr Tree (who broke a 13 year duck) and Mr Davies for the staff and Andre Le Roux with the students consolation. It probably would have been more if Mr Elliot learnt how to finish!! It was a solid team performance with Mr Wilder making some excellent saves, an inspired performance at full back from Mr Keatley and a last ditch tackle from Mr Columbro to note just a few stand out performances. But MOTM went to Mr Holland who scored 2 and grabbed an assist - he ran the show from the very off and his MOTM award was richly deserved. Here's to next year! PE Dept One last thing: Special mention to Astrid Davis, Emily Bettles, Lilly Gohara and Beth Roch who came runners up in the district schools Badminton Tournament this term. They played both singles and doubles and wins came against Windsor, Edgbarrow and Kennet in the semi-finals where it went down to the last match to decide who would face Kendrick in the final! Unfortunately Kendrick were just too strong but the girls put in a fantastic performance and made the school extremely proud. Well done girls.
