MOHANLAL SUKHADIA UNIVERSITY,UDAIPUR MLSU/DPG/PHDAT-01/2009 11/09/2009 NOTIFICATION ENTRANCE TEST FOR ADMISSION TO Ph.D PROGRAMME 2009 Applications are invited on or before 24 nd September 2009 from candidates who are interested in taking admission to the Ph.D programme of ML Sukhadia University against a maximum of 175 vacancies existing in various subjects under faculty. An entrance test for admission to PhD programme of the University will be held at the University College of Commerce and Management Studies, Udaipur, on Sunday, 27 th September 2009 at 10.00 am. Eligibility: Post-Graduate Degree in the relevant subject with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university or should have qualified in an examination conducted by professional bodies leading to CA, CS, ICWA, PGDM approved by AICTE, New Delhi. A relaxation of 5% marks at the PG level will be given to SC/ST and physically handicapped students. Exemption: Those who have qualified UGC/CSIR NET(JRF) examination/set/gate (with a valid score)/teacher Research Fellowship holder(ugc) or candidates who have passed M.Phil course with a minimum of 55% marks from ML Sukhadia University,Udaipur or from universities where M.Phil degree is awarded under regular program as per UGC regulations shall be exempted from appearing in the entrance test for the Ph. D. programme.

Note: Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post- graduation only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list subjects given above may appear in a related subject. EXAMINATION FEE AND MODE OF PAYMENT:- Application form set for Ph.D can be downloaded from university web site www.mlsu.ac.in. Out of the application form sets, the application form A, Application form for Entrance Test/Exemption is to be filled and submitted along with a crossed demand draft of Rs 500/- in the name of Dean, Post Graduate studies, MLSU, Udaipur payable at Udaipur. Application forms can also be purchased from office of the Dean, PG studies by paying Rs 500/- in cash. SCHEME AND DATE OF TEST: I. The examination will consist of two papers. Examination for both papers will be held on 27-09-2009 as per the schedule given below at the University College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Udaipur Paper Marks Duration I 100 1 hour (10:00 AM to 11:00 AM) II 100 1 hrs 30 minutes (11:30 AM to 1:00PM) Paper - I (a)for all subjects except subjects under Faculty of Science The questions shall be of general nature, intended to assess the research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. A
total of 50 multiple choice questions (MCQ) will be set. There will be no negative marking. (b) For all subjects under Faculty of Science Paper I shall contain two parts. Part A: General Science: Part A of Paper I shall contain 40 General Science questions including computer awareness. These questions shall be common to all Science subject areas. Topics will be the same as that normally covered in secondary school as well as recent developments in science which a student of science is expected to know. A candidate shall be required to answer a maximum of 25 questions from Part A. In case a candidate answers more than 25 questions, only the first 25 answered questions will be taken up for evaluation. Part B of the paper I shall contain 25 questions to test reasoning ability, comprehension and divergent thinking to assess the research aptitude of the candidate. Paper II This paper will be separate for each subject and will consist two sections. The syllabus for this paper will be the same as that of UGC/CSIR NET examination. Syllabus and sample papers are available on the UGC, CSIR websites and also on the University web site www.mlsu.ac.in Section I: Ten questions will be asked across the syllabus. The questions will be definitional or seeking particular information and are to be answered in up to 30 words each. Each question will carry 5 marks (10 x 5 = 50 marks). There will be no internal choice. The questions in this section shall be numbered from 1 to 10. Section II: Essay writing Two questions with internal choice on general themes and contemporary, theoretical or of disciplinary relevance will be given. The candidate is expected to answer within a maximum of 500 words. The questions
will be numbered as 11 & 12. Each question will carry 25 marks (Total marks: 2x25 = 50). Paper - II will be evaluated only for those candidates who are able to secure the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I as per the table given below. Candidates who have applied for the test will be required to download their admit cards (containing their roll numbers) from the website or collect the same from the examination centre at 9 a.m. on 27 th September, 2009. An OMR answer sheet will be provided for marking answers for Paper-I. Answers are to be marked with a black ball pen as per instructions printed on the backside of the OMR sheet. Bar coded & hollow craft sticker based answer books will be supplied for Paper II Note: Calculators, Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets shall not be allowed in the examination hall.
