Thank you for all your comments; our senior leadership & management team, teaching & learning, school communication and student support were rated highly and I wanted to share some of our current thoughts regarding these and the areas that we know need improvement. I note that communication is good but I also know we can be even better and we will make every effort to do that. One positive achievement in this respect is that we have for the first time given parents assessment scores based on externally set tests and parents have expressed their support for this. I note the comments regarding homework and I will continue to ensure that homework is at the right level and in the right quantity. There were a number of requests for improved facilities. Facilities have already been improved with the changes in the playground and classroom revamps. This term we have introduced railings at the front to improve our safety and security. We now have very good sports set up at Clifton Lodge, with our competitive sports fixtures having significantly increased in number and we continue to win more and more of our games, raising our sports profile. We will continue to improve our clubs options and the science club has been very popular, as have our hockey and football clubs. In addition, we have recently introduced a Spanish club. We welcome your comments regarding how our school can be developed further and this insight is invaluable when undertaking our future planning for the school. Kind regards Tony Thamia Headmaster

World Book Day Today we celebrated World Book Day at school. We had a wonderful array of characters, from Hagrid, Voldermort and Harry Potter, Cruella de Vil, Thing 1 & 2, the Cat in the Hat, Zorro, two girls from Little Women, Juliet from Romeo & Juliet, Sherlock, Little Miss Sunshine, Alice in Wonderland and many, many more. Well done to everyone who joined in the fun today.

Perform Drama Workshops - Nursery-Year 3 On Monday 20 th February, our Nursery and Year 1 to 3 pupils had a visit from Perform to take part in drama workshops. The children had a wonderful, energetic time with Charlotte exploring the theme of a Fairytale Forest and using drama, dance and singing to help develop their confidence, concentration and social skills. Thank you to Perform for their visit. Year 1 - Helicopters Year 1 had great fun this week when they made little helicopters. When finished we went outside and up the steps near Dr Thamia s office and let them float and twirl down to the ground. Leon s helicopter got caught in the wind and floated up and around the playground! The children learnt about the wind and how long it took for the helicopters to reach the ground.

Nursery Pancake Day On Tuesday 28 th February, our Nursery pupils got very excited at the prospect of making pancakes! They enjoyed mixing up the ingredients and eating the results afterwards. Year 4 Marble reward Well done to Year 4 who reached their marble target and chose to have a session of Origami and Lego as a reward:

Sports Friday 24 th February Hockey v St Benedict s (A) - U10/U11 Boys Hockey U10's report The U10 team, consisting of Daniel, Sai, James, Umar, Anik, Tom, Rui, Philip, Tommy and Ken, travelled to St.Benedicts on Friday 24th February. Sai was goalie and Daniel, James and Umar strikers, Tommy was mid position and the rest defenders. The match started well for Clifton Lodge School and we scored the first goal with a strike from Daniel being helped into the back of the net by James. Great defending by Rui and a few good saves from Sai meant that at half time the score was 1-0 to Clifton Lodge. In the second half Daniel scored a goal after some good passing by Tommy which took the score to 2-0. St.Benedicts did some substitutions which led to a skilful goal putting the score at 2-1 with 10 minutes to go. There was some great defending by Clifton Lodge in the final minutes of the match and then we got our break. There was a short corner taken by Umar, and James picked up the ball and smacked it into the corner of the goal. The score finished 3-1 to Clifton Lodge and everyone played a great game. Daniel (Year 5) Hockey U11 s report The U11 team also played on Friday and started their match just as strongly as they finished. Despite this being their first game of the season they were well prepared and raring to go, with a goal from Noah in the first few minutes. Slick movement down the wings with great opportunities from Jason and Rishi led to three more goals from Noah before the end of the match. Matthew picked up where he left off last hockey season with a strong performance in goal, well supported by Zain and Yousif in defence. Miss Law Zain and James Men of the Match Sainsbury s Active Kids 2017 Sainsbury's Active Kids 2017 launched on 25 January and with your help we hope to collect enough vouchers to buy extra items of sports equipment for the children. This year there are three ways to collect; in Sainsbury's Supermarkets and online at sainsburys.co.uk, you'll be given one voucher for every 10 you spend, and in Sainsbury's Local stores you'll get one voucher for every 5 you spend. There is a box in the school s main entrance hall for you to place any vouchers you may collect. Thank you for your support in advance.
