FERGUSON, PRESIDENT High School Teacher of the Month was Michelle Stoneking, a high school math teacher Congratulations to Ms Stoneking. Middle School Teacher of the Month was Ms. Joyce Powers. Joyce is a paraprofessional at our Middle School. Ms. Peg Pennepacker, Susquehanna Township School District athletic director, was presented with a Distinguished Service Award at the 43 rd Anniversary Awards Banquet on March 25, 2010. This award is given in recognition of meritorious service, leadership and special contribution to interscholastic athletics at the local and state level. Congratulations to Ms. Pennypacker. SCHOOL BOARD ANNOUNCEMENTS DR. SUSAN M. KEGERISE, SUPERINTENDENT High School Student of the Month was Allison Tafun, a senior at the High School. Congratulations to Allison. Andrew Morris is Middle School Student of the Month. Andrew is a 6 th grade student. Congratulations to Andrew. Congratulations to the Science Olympiad Team for a very successful day at the Regional competition at Millersville University. The team won medals in 8 of the 23 events. The following students won medals in the following events: 4 th Place-Experimental Design-Hannah Wand, Ime Ime Umana, and Peter Liu 4 th Place-Picture This-Taryn Janati, Dan Rosenthal, Peter Liu 3 rd Place- Remote Sensing-Taryn Janati, Jon Trexler 3 rd Place-Dynamic Planet-John Packer, Dan Rosenthal 3 rd Place-Disease Detective-Ime Ime Umana, John Packer 2 nd Place Forensics-Hannah Wand, Bennett Kriete 1 st Place-Technical Problem Solving-Bennett Kriete, Matt Enterline 1 st Place-Chemistry Lab-Bennett Kriete, Matt Enterline. Also Congratulations goes to other team members -- Lee Henig, Adam Rau, Marshall Hoskins and Shane Brady.

With the combined efforts of the entire team, they scored well enough to place 5 th out of 22 teams from our region and qualify for the State Science Olympiad to be held on Friday, April 30 th at Juniata College. Congratulations to Bennett Kriete for placing 3 rd in the American Chemical Society s Chemistry Olympiad Regional exam held on Saturday, March 20 th at Penn State- Harrisburg. Bennett placed third out of approximately 100 students from our area and will be awarded $50.00 and has been invited to take The Chemistry Olympiad National Exam on April 24 th. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS The Susquehanna Township High School Softball Team, along with the Softball Booster Club, will be sponsoring a Pink Out event for the 2010-2011 school year. The event will be held during a home football game, sometime during the month of October The goal of the event will be to raise money for, and awareness of, Breast Cancer. Event activities will include: A pink ribbon band formation Pink ribbon lights placed in an area to be seen throughout the game Sale of T-Shirts, pink pom-poms, wristbands, ribbon pins and hats DISCUSSIONS-PRESENTATIONS BOARD ACTIONS TAKEN ON APRIL 26, 2010 Mr. Jesse Woodrow and several students and parents made a presentation to the Board. They showed a movie of their experience in New Orleans and the things they did to help that community impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Mr. Schlegel and Mr. Frentz presented the proposed budget. Approved the Dauphin County Technical School Budget for the 2010-2011 school year, as recommended. Dr. Kegerise shared a lease agreement with the Susquehanna Township Sewer Authority to use the Progress building to store materials for the upcoming sewer improvements. Approved Cocciardi Inc to review the Progress Building for asbestos and complete task number one. Approve renewal of the CAIU-CASA Contract.

Approved minutes of the March 22, 2010 school board meeting, with the following corrections:. FINANCES All posted items were approved. ADDITIONAL BOARD ACTION Removed the request for an internal audit of student activities fund from the table. Approved a motion to conduct a forensic audit of district credit cards for a 3-year period.
