Application and Selection Information Grades 1-5 Application and selection process Timeline Applications may be submitted from May 1 - May 26, 2017 Proof of Residency must be included with Application Student must take Math and Reading Assessments on June 9, 2017 Notification of student s test results and placement status by June 30, 2017 Entrance Agreement and registration documents for selected students returned by July 14, 2017 Applications Available online at www.txkisd.net and TISD Administrative Office, 4241 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, TX 75503. All applications must be received by the established deadline to be considered for selection. Applications must be submitted in person or via mail to: 4241 Summerhill Road, Texarkana, TX 75503. Applications submitted in person will be given an Acknowledgement Receipt at time application is submitted. TISD will not accept responsibility for receipt of applications sent through the U.S. mail or TISD school mail. Postmark dates will not be considered. Proof of Residency All completed applications MUST BE submitted with required proof of residency to be considered for selection. Proof of residency includes: Current Driver s License or Photo Identification and current utility statement, lease agreement or tax appraisal statement. In order to qualify for the TISD residency points on the scoring rubric, Parents/Guardians address on Driver s License and secondary document(s) must match. Selection Process Students will be evaluated based on Academics, Attendance and Behavior. A rubric score will be determined based on the test administered at Morriss, as well as: current and prior year report card grades; current and prior year STAAR or standardized test scores; current and prior year attendance and tardy record; and current and prior year behavior record. Additional ranking points will be given for TISD residency and full-time employees of Morriss. Each student will be ranked based on the composite rubric score. A minimum testing and composite score will be required for admittance. In the event of a tied score, the final rank will give priority as follows: 1. Score on the Math Assessment 2. Sibling of a Morriss student enrolled for the 2017-18 school year 3. TISD resident. All applicants must complete a Math and Reading Assessment. Testing will be held at Morriss. Students must test on the designated date to be eligible for selection. All requested documents must be provided by June 9, 2017 for student to be eligible for evaluation. At that time, the highest ranking students will be offered enrollment. As additional openings develop during the summer, we will continue to contact students in rank order. Openings will continue to be filled through the first grading period of the coming school year. After the first grading period, no new students will be admitted for enrollment.
