MISSION We at St Barnabas will provide quality education for each child in a stimulating, nurturing and secure environment with all stakeholders, promoting values that will enhance their everyday life. The St. Barnabas Anglican Early Childhood Care and Education Centre formerly St. Barnabas Nursery School, acknowledges and thanks all those who came together to celebrate its 40 th Anniversary. We look forward to your continued assistance and support in the development and nurturing of our precious ones. 40th Anniversary Celebrations 1977-2017

Community Service Lenora Ross Mrs Lenora Ross has been a member of the St. Barnabas Anglican Church and a dedicated member of the Mother's Union from since it's inception in 1970. Her heart has always been very near and dear to the St. Barnabas Early Childhood Care Centre, always willing to assist by contributing and giving of her time and also sharing life's experiences when called upon to do so or not. She has eight ( 8 ) grandchildren who have attended and graduated from this institute, leaving with great values, morals and principles which were instilled in them. This discipline has certainly prepared them for life's challenges and outcomes. On this account we are therefore pleased to honour Mrs. Lenora Ross for her time and efforts which she willingly gave. CANON S MESSAGE Heartiest Congratulations! Sincerest Thanks to all pupils, teachers, parents, ancillary staff, members of the Board, and other supporters, past and present as we celebrate 40 years of the existence of the St. Barnabas Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Centre. Forty years ago, our nursery school started at the Church as St Barnabas Private School run by a dedicated member of the Church. Today it is a Ministry of Education sponsored ECCE Centre under the auspices of the Anglican Education Board of Education. We thank God for all who have laboured as teachers to give our children an excellent start in life. We thank God for the parents, who placed their children in our care, confident that the foundation they would receive would put them on a sound footing for the rest of their education. We thank God for those who took on the task of administration of the school as members of the Board. We say a special thank you to all members of the community who supported our school in any way throughout the past forty years. Today we celebrate our past pupils who have done us proud and who have fond memories of their time at our school. We thank God for all who in any way contributed to our 40 years of quality education. With praise and thanksgiving, we celebrate 40 years of service to the community and by God s grace look forward to the future. Peace and blessings to all. Canon Steve West Rector The Anglican Church in the Diocese of Trinidad & Tobago Parish of St Barnabas Community Service Joan Yuille -Williams A pillar of the community Ms Joan Yuille-Williams has always been an integral part in the development of this school. She has contributed her time, energy and finances to ensure that the children of this school was never left wanting for anything. Even though Ms Williams is an esteemed political figure in our society she remains a very humble person who never hesitates to assist. The St Barnabas ECCE Centre takes this opportunity to recognize Ms Joan Yuille-Williams for her continued contribution to the school.

Long Service Magdalene Warner Special Recognition Ms Magdalene Warner has served at the St Barnabas ECCE Centre since its inception when it was known as the St Barnabas Nursery School. She has been not only the school s custodian but an assistant to the teachers helping in whatever way she can whenever necessary. Ms Magdalene was the first to greet the children on mornings and as a result she was both loved and feared by them. Canon Steve West Ms Warner is always willing and able to assist whenever called upon. She continues to be and integral part of the St Barnabas on the Hill Anglican Church and by extension the St Barnabas ECCE Centre.

ADMINISTRATOR S MESSAGE It is with the greatest of pleasure that I join in celebrating forty (40) years of service to the young children and by extension, tomorrow s leaders with St Barnabas Anglican Early Childhood Care and Education Centre (ECCEC). My affiliation with this Centre spans over twenty years, when the move from a private nursery school, to becoming a partner with the Government in its community Harmonized Programme as an assisted denominational ECCEC began. Members of the St Barnabas Anglican Church formed themselves into a Board of Education (one of the criteria required to partner with the Government) and sent Ms. Jana Guada, Roxanne Brizan and Cecily Trim from the Community, to take up the two-year scholarship programme offered by the Government free of charge, for a Certificate in Early Childhood Education at the University of the West Indies Open Campus South Centre. Today I am proud to see the growth and progress of one of the young ladies who completed the Certificate programme the only one who remained with the Centre for over twenty-two years, giving selfless service to the ECCE Centre and the St Barnabas Anglican Church. St Barnabas ECCE Centre stands as a beacon of light on the hill as we continue with our Ministry to change lives in the community, through the young children and their families. ST. BARNABAS CURRENT TEACHERS Nursery School On July 24 th 1977, a decision was taken by Bishop Clive Abdullah and Parish Priest Reverend Raymond Reid to establish a Nursery School in the area, under the auspices of the church s Vestry. Eventually, on Monday September 12 th 1977, St. Barnabas Nursery School opened its doors to twelve (12) students. The initial staff at the school consisted of some voluntary church members, namely Mrs. Marjorie Theodore (Principal), Ms. Glenfield Theodore and Ms. Magdalene Warner. For the first five years of its existence the school was housed in a modest wooden structure. Then in 1980 the school was moved to the St. Barnabas on the Hill Anglican Church. Eventually in 2004, through the efforts of the School s Board and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago the St. Barnabas Anglican Early Childhood Care and Education Centre was opened and remains in existence until today. ST BARNABAS EARLY CHILDHOOD Ms. Marjorie Theodore CARE AND EDUCATION CENTRE The St. Barnabas Anglican Early Childhood Centre (E.C.C.E.), formerly St. Barnabas Nursery School, celebrated its 40 th Anniversary on Tuesday, 12 th September, 2017. It is one of five (5) ECCE Centres under the Anglican Diocese. This school has been the educational foundation for our children throughout the years and continue to be so. For forty (40) years this school has nurtured over twelve hundred (1200) students. These children would have moved on to be lawyers, doctors, engineers, teachers and police officers. In fact, all students in their own way have moved on continuing to exhibit the values, knowledge and principles they have learned while attending this esteemed school. Mrs. Marjorie Theodore was the founding Principal of the St. Barnabas Nursery School. Ms. Theodore as she was fondly called, managed the school for twenty-five (25) years. Even though Ms Theodore retired in retired in 2002 she remained a Substitute Teacher at the school until June 2004. She would have instilled knowledge, values and principles in many students over the years. Students who would have attended St. Barnabas, or the School on the Hill, have moved on and now their children and grand-children are a part of this prestigious school. The values instilled by Ms. Theodore still lives on. Ms. Theodore passed away on 23 rd January 2005.
