Also Present: John Adkins, Rainy Anderson, Kim Ewing, Terry Bartolino, Polo Hernandez, and Celia Stearns Meeting called to order at 4:30 p.m. 01 BUDGET FOR 2016-2017 FISCAL YEAR: Business Manager, Rainy Anderson gave a brief report on the 2016-17 school year budget. 02 CHANGES OR ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: 1. Consent Agenda ESD 101 Cooperative Agreement (05) 2. Personnel Resignation letter from Les Hegney (09) 3. Music Teacher (Kim Ewing present) 4. Elementary Flooring Great Floors Bid (Kim Ewing present) 5. Changes to Housing Agreement (Rainy Anderson present) Motion from Mike Seyler to accept the changes to the agenda. Motion carried 4-0. 03 COMMENTS FOR THE GOOD OF THE SCHOOLS: Terry Bartolino: Reviewed the policies in the 3000 series and sent her recommendations to the principals to review and bring back to the August board meeting. Terry is willing to meet with the principals and board members on the Transgender policies which she has attended training on. Working on end of the year reports, Open Doors programs and replacing a staff member at Fort Simcoe who left. Kim Ewing: K-12 Music Teacher, John Tomes: The K-12 Music teacher position was offered to John Tomes pending he applies for a Washington Teachers Certificate. Motion from Terry Payne to hire John Tomes for the K-12 music teacher position. Motion carried 4-0. Elementary Flooring Great Floors Bid: Received one bid on time from Great Floors and another contractor was scheduled to come out on July 21, 2016 to inspect and give another bid proposal. 1

Motion from Jennifer LeBret-White with the understanding that Mr. Adkins would review both proposals and whichever bid can get the job done in the time frame needed and within a reasonable cost, will be awarded the bid. Motion carried 4-0. Kim gave a power point presentation that she presented at the State Board of Education on the Wellpinit Elementary School recommendations towards leadership, instructional program and data-based inquiry cycle and culture and learning environment. Meeting with the WSU nursing services for assistance for vision and hearing tests. Looking into a rewards program thru the Indistar Plan with the state with RAD dollars offering stipends to teachers that are showing student growth. Kris Herda: Out on training Polo Hernandez: Gave an update on several projects that are happening under the IEDG grant. The UW Summer Institute will be held here August 16-18, 2016 with 31 participants signed up And needing 9 more out of the community. The Curriculum Development Team will be presenting in Omak at the Indian Education summer Institute July 26-28, 2016. Salmon in the classroom still in progress, partnering with Mobius and 2 professors from Gonzaga. The documentary that started last Spring will be done by the end of August to review. A handful of students attending the Newtech Skills Center this summer. SFCC working with the early learning staff from the tribe and school towards a CDA certificate. Met with the regional president of Whole Foods Market. Whole Foods Foundation would like to discuss a partnership around gardens that are culturally relevant, grants for salad bars and parent teacher education around nutrition. Received a letter of support for the Spokane Tribe of Indians Promise Zone designation for its application for Indian Education Special Programs for Indian children, from Cathy McMorris Rodgers. CONTRACTS/AGREEMENTS: 05f Teacher Contracts, Supplemental Activity Contract Agreements, Coaches (See attachment). Contract between the Wellpinit School District and Tara Potter to teach Jump Start Summer School and participate in mathematics professional development at the elementary school. Contract between the Wellpinit School District and Madeline Dorris to teach Jump Start Summer School and participate in mathematics professional development at the elementary school. Contract between the Wellpinit School District and Kathryn Conlin, registered nurse to perform school nurse duties from August 1, 2016 thru July 31, 2017 for a total of 520 hours. Contract between the Wellpinit School District and Noe Medina to assist and support the school in developing and obtaining funding for projects designed to improve educational services and learning opportunities for the students at Wellpinit. Interagency training agreement between the University of Washington (UW) and the Wellpinit School District. This is the 2nd agreement in a series of three yearly agreements to provide a Native Education Program. Contract between the Wellpinit School District and Noe Medina to work with the Superintendent, Management Team, Project and Grants Manager to meet requirements of the Federal Indian Education Demonstration Grant from the US department of Education with the projects evaluation and reporting. Contract between the Wellpinit School District and Dr. Laura Lynn to provide in the assistance, development and blending of the Spokane Tribal History and Curriculum and other relevant Spokane Tribal History from Preservation and the department of Natural Resources, elders, community members; as it falls into the objectives and outcomes of the grant. support for the Fall Quarter of 2016 for the Spokane Tribal Headstart in completing this ECED& 105-5 credit course to aid in completion of the Washington State ECED certificates. support for the Winter Quarter of 2017 for the Spokane Tribal Headstart in completing this ECED&115-5 credit course to aid in completion of the Washington ECED certificates. support for the Spring Quarter of 2017 for the Spokane Tribal Headstart in completing this ECED & 130 3 credit course to aid in completion of the Washington State ECED certificates. Recommendation on hiring Chanel Ford for the High School Girls Assistant Basketball Coach for the 2016-17 school year. Motion carried 4-0. A second motion was made by Jennifer LeBret-White to move that the Administration be asked to examine consolidating the duties of Food Service Director and Grants Manager into other positions or consider the feasibility of creating a new position.
