MINUTES I. The Meeting was called to order by Board President, Mr. McDonald. ROLL CALL Present: Mr. Nolin Mrs. Frangie Mrs. Giller Mrs. Annely Mr. McDonald Excused: Mr. Pascale Also Present: Dr. Jennifer Spring, Superintendent Ms. Peggy O Shea, Assistant Superintendent for Education Services Mrs. Stacy Mackey, School Business Official MOTION: To accept the Minutes of the Board of Education Meeting of February 28, 2018. Moved by: Mr. Nolin Seconded by: Mrs. Frangie II. III. IV. PRESIDENT'S REPORT Jeff Huneau, Athletic Director, provided a winter sports update and student athletes were recognized for their achievement. SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT A. Curriculum and Instruction Ms. O Shea provided a brief update on professional development endeavours throughout the district. B. Business and Operations Mrs. Mackey continued with 2018-19 Budget deliberations and answered questions. BOARD OF EDUCATION DISCUSSION OF AGENDA ITEMS The Board expressed their gratitude for all the donations listed on the agenda.

THAT the Board of Education accepts the Minutes of the Committee on Special Education for the following meeting dates: 11/27/17, 12/21/17, 01/11/18, 01/18/18, 01/22/18, 01/29/18, 02/8/18, 02/9/18, 02/13/18, 02/14/18, 02/15/18, 02/16/18, 02/27/18, 02/28/18, 03/1/18, 03/2/18, 03/5/18, 03/6/18, 03/8/18, 03/9/18, 03/12/18 and 03/13/18. B. THAT the Board of Education approves the following proposition to appear on the ballot of the May 15, 2018 School Board Election and Budget Vote: BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby adopts the following proposition for consideration by the voters of the District on May 15, 2018: CAPITAL RESERVE FUND SHALL the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District be authorized to (1) create a Capital Reserve Fund for the purpose of financing the construction of, and general improvements, reconstruction, renovations or additions to, the District s buildings and grounds, including site work and the acquisition of original furnishings, equipment, machinery or apparatus required for the purpose for which such buildings are to be used; (2) fund said reserve to the ultimate amount of $5,000,000 and (3) annually deposit into the Capital Reserve Fund such portion as determined by the Board of Education of the General Fund, unallocated fund balance and/or other reserve funds. The probable duration of the Capital Reserve Fund is ten (10) years. C. THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation in the amount of $1,500 from Randy James for Arts & Education at Abram Lansing Elementary School. D. THAT the Board of Education amends the 2017-18 Budget in the amount of $1,500 for Arts & Education at Abram Lansing Elementary School. E. THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation in the amount of $1,500 from Ellen Sinopoli for Arts & Education at Abram Lansing Elementary School. F. THAT the Board of Education amends the 2017-18 Budget in the amount of $1,500 for Arts & Education at Abram Lansing Elementary School. G. THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation in the amount of $1,210.25 from Harmony Hill School PTA for students to attend a performance on March 16, 2018 at Proctor s in Schenectady.

THAT the Board of Education amends the 2017-18 Budget in the amount of $1,210.25 to cover transportation costs of Harmony Hill Elementary School students to Proctor s in Schenectady on March 16, 2018. I. THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation in the amount of $1,210.25 from Harmony Hill School PTA for students to attend a performance on May 9, 2018 at Proctor s in Schenectady. J. THAT the Board of Education amends the 2017-18 Budget in the amount of $1,210.25 to cover transportation costs of Harmony Hill Elementary School students to Proctor s in Schenectady on May 9, 2018. K. THAT the Board of Education accepts a donation in the amount of $1,400 from Ellen Sinopoli for Arts & Education at Abram Lansing Elementary School. L. THAT the Board of Education amends the 2017-18 Budget in the amount of $1,400 for Arts & Education at Abram Lansing Elementary School. VIII. RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT PERSONNEL INSTRUCTIONAL A. THAT the Board of Education appoints the following individuals to the Substitute Teacher and Tutor list: Allen, Amy Arnold, Riley Barsom, Amal Blackman, Christine Bleihert, Annese Callman, Emily Crawford, Rachael Dalland, Karen Deronceriay, Calixe Jaskula, Courtney Malik, Saba O Hearn, Michaelyn Perlee, Deana Porter, Jessica Romano, Marcus Smith, Kayla Valada, Carolyn Effective: March 22, 2018 B. THAT the Board of Education appoints the following individual as Advisor to the club and activity listed for the 2017-2018 school year, contingent upon acceptable program enrollment: CHS Clubs and Activities Name FTE Class Advisor - 2018 Scott Ciarlone 1.0 Effective: March 9, 2018

THAT the Board of Education appoints the following individual to the coaching position listed below for the 2017-2018 school year, contingent upon acceptable program enrollment: CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY NAME FTE Lacrosse - Varsity Laura Murawski 1.0 ADDENDA E. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District appoints John Ketchoyian to a four-year conditional term in the tenure area of Special Education effective September 1, 2018 and expiring on August 31, 2022 on an emergency conditional basis. Mr. Ketchoyian holds Professional Certification in the area of Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from Mr. Ketchoyian regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education. Mr. Ketchoyian s continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that he is fully cleared for employment.
