Dear Parents and Guardians Principal s Report Positive School-Wide Behaviour In last week s newsletter I introduced our 4 school expectations that will be the focus of our classroom and playground behaviour. These 4 expectations are Respectful, Proud, Safe, Learners. These expectations will be taught explicitly across the school and very soon students will be acknowledged for displaying these expectations with special tokens that can be redeemed for. Being RESPECTFUL in the playground includes: Looking after equipment and returning it. Taking turns and playing fairly. Use manners with everyone. Solve problems by talking them through. Cross-Country Well done once again to all the students who participated in the school cross-country last Friday. Mr Moore has now been able to finalise the 36 representatives who will participate in the Division Cross-Country at Chairo school next Thursday 25th May. Students who have been selected will receive a note with further details. Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 placegetters from our school event in the near future. Education Week Education Week will be celebrated across Victoria next week. As part of the week we are inviting potential 2018 Prep families to come for a school tour on Wednesday 24th May at 9.30 to 10.30am. If you know of any new families for next year, please make them aware of this. Sam Wells Equestrian Congratulations to Sam Wells who participated in the inter-schools equestrian event last Friday. Sam competed strongly and placed 2nd in two stages of the event. Hats/Scarves Hats are not compulsory at present however students may still wear the school hats if they wish. Navy blue beanies are also acceptable. Should children wear a scarf it must be navy blue to match the school uniform. Michael Smith Principal 2

On Friday the 12th of May Sam competed in an Interschool Show Jumping competition representing Drouin South Primary School. The event was held at Hillcrest Christian College. Sam placed 2nd in two phases in the Intermediate section. Jumping 75cm-85cm against Primary & Secondary students. Our OSHC Pen Pals Program has begun! We will be sending off our first lot of letters next Friday, so if you haven't already forms must be returned before then for your child to participate. If you need a new form please speak to an OSHC Educator about extra copies. 3

The Drouin South PFF is running a Pie Drive this year through Out Of Dough in Morwell. There is a variety of pies to choose from including family, individual and mini pies in both sweet and savoury flavours. If you would like to place an order, forms need to be retuned to the office by no later than Wednesday 14th of June. The pies will be delivered to the students on Monday 26th of June. More order forms can be found at the office. On Friday, the 12 th of May, Drouin South Primary School held our annual Cross Country event in glorious autumn conditions. Thank you to all staff members and students who assisted on the day (checkpoints, data entry, Icy Poles, markers, setting up and collecting cones) and the parents who came along to support their students. The house with the most points for the day was Gold, closely followed by Red, Green and Blue. The top 6 students in each age group will compete at the Division Cross Country event, which will be held on Thursday the 25 th of May at Chairo Christian College. I have included a list of the top 6 students in each of the age groups and year levels (no Division races for the prep-year 3 students). A special mention to three students who broke our school records on the day. 6

Do you have any unused instruments at home? Perhaps a guitar, keyboard or some percussion equipment (no toys such as guitar hero). You may even know of someone with an unused piano? We are looking to build our resources so our students have access to a variety of musical experiences. If you think you can help, please see Mrs Moore. Prizes Wanted We are asking for donations of small items in good condition eg. Small toys etc. That could be used for a lucky dip prize for students following school expectations consistently. If you have any items that may be suitable, please send them into the school office. Thank you. Pure Bred blue heeler puppies Beautiful nature Both parents from family friendly homes.
