ART In the Art & Gift Market, patrons strolled through over 60 booths of hand-crafted art and specialty gift items by talented artisans and merchants, both local and nationwide. Jazz, rockabilly and acoustic bands provided entertainment during the festival on The Art Stage. The Student Art Contest showcased art from area school students in kindergarten through high school. The Fifth Avenue Foundation underwrote the Art Contest, which was judged by local artists. The winning student artists were presented with ribbons and prize money at an Awards Ceremony Sunday afternoon. MUSIc Mayfest had three dedicated live music stages where over 40 local bands play more than 75 hours of original and cover music. From pop, rock and country to jazz, oldies and bluegrass, there was music for everyone to enjoy. From gymnastics to dance to singing, performers from all over the Fort Worth area showcased their talents on the four performing art stages located throughout the festival. Whether they were with a group or performing on their own, entertainers young and old enthralled the audience with their productions. FOOD With 19 vendors in three food courts, Mayfest is known for the vast array of festival food offered each year. In fact, over 83 percent of patrons say they come to Mayfest to enjoy the food and beverage. From turkey legs to gyros to ice cream, we had something for every appetite. Local food celebrities were invited to judge the 3rd Annual Best of the Fest Food Contest presented by the Star-Telegram where food vendors were given the opportunity to enter up to three of their delectable delights. This year s winners included: Best Overall - Red Velvet Covered Oreos from Cristi Ali Cuisine Most Creative - Jalapeño Corn Dog from Fletcher s Corny Dog Best Sweet Treat - Moose Tracks Ice Cream from Dippin Dots entertainment 5 6

f u n 7 The Frost Zone Area Bungee jumping, rock climbing, the giant human maze, and the Humane Society of North Texas pet adoptions, and much more were all found in the Frost Zone area. Patrons also learned about the great Texas outdoors through hands-on activities. The Base Area The Base Area at Mayfest was truly the heart of the festival not only because it was centrally located, but also several core areas were located here. With the live music from the Main Stage, the delectable food from the food court and the Trinity Park playground, the Base Area proved to be a popular spot for all patrons. The Riverbank Area Nestled on the banks of the Trinity River, patrons caught the best breezes while they listened to live music on the Riverbank Stage and enjoyed refreshments from the South Food Court. The activities and shows held on the river change from year to year but the paddle boats are here to stay! The Tom Thumb Albertsons Children s Area Sponsored by Tom Thumb Albertsons for over 20 years, The Tom Thumb Albertsons Children s Area was completely free of charge and was designed for children ages 3-12 years old. A variety of activity booths and entertainment awaited the children including face painting, the giant sand pile, hula hoops, and Wood-N-Sticks to name a few. The Range Area Home to our famous carnival, as well as a food court and two performing art stages, the Range Area was a favorite place for our patrons. Whether speeding past on the jumbo ride or riding the mechanical bull, or jumping in the bubble balls, there was fun for the entire family! The Oasis Hospitality Suite presented by honda of fort worth The Oasis Hospitality Suite presented by Honda of Fort Worth was a special, reserved area where our major sponsors and supporters relaxed, enjoyed food and beverages, and listened to the music of the Main Stage. A VIP reception, held on Thursday, brought together sponsors, partners, major donors, and city officials to celebrate what was sure to be a wonderful Mayfest. It s the best party all weekend so make sure your sponsorship package includes an invitation to the VIP Reception! 8

EECU Mayfest Run 2016 The EECU Mayfest Run was the Saturday morning of Mayfest. This year, over 700 participants ran either a USATF certified 10K or 5K, or chose the 1K Fun Run. New race routes started at Farrington Field and wound through Trinity Park along the beautiful trails of the Trinity River. The races ended in the heart of the Mayfest grounds with a post-race party including music, food, beverages and prizes. All participants received free admission to Mayfest! SPECIAL NEEDS DAY Special Needs Day, one of the most anticipated days of Mayfest, was on the Friday of Mayfest before the gates open to the public. Approximately 1,000 children with physical and mental disabilities and limitations from area school districts came to experience the wonder of Mayfest in a safe and nurturing setting. Special Needs Day allowed these children the opportunity to enjoy Mayfest at their own pace and without all of the usual crowds. The kids had a great time venturing through all the booths in the Tom Thumb Albertsons Children s Area, interacting with all the animals at the Petting Zoo, and chasing bubbles from the Bubble Tower!
