This year's National Day of Silence is April 21st. The Day of Silence is a day when students and faculty can choose to peacefully protest against anti-lgbt bullying and harassment. People can take a vow of silence (or at least make a valiant attempt--we have no vow police here!) in an effort to call attention to the many victims who have been silenced due to bullying and harassment because of their perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. Students will be given a card explaining their vow and should show it to their teachers at the beginning of class. Anyone wishing to show their support without taking the vow may wear a rainbow ribbon. Ms. Able will be handing them out in the cafeteria the morning of the Day of Silence, and there will be some available in the main office as well. SAT Makeup Day will be on Tuesday, April 25th. There will be no bells or announcements on this day.
