John Darbyshire Parish s Newsletter http://stanthonysparis hkingscliff.org/newsevents/ Dear Parents Despite a cold start to the day our annual Athletics Carnival was a great success. It was good to see the students engaged with lots of activities so they weren t sitting around for long periods with nothing to do. The aim of the day was for maximum participation and we certainly achieved that! Thank you to Mrs Donnelly for co-ordinating the day, the Dance Fever team who were there in force to give us a hand, all the teachers and other staff for their commitment to their tasks on the day, including getting all the equipment down and setting up, to the canteen team who kept everyone well fed throughout the day, and to those parents who helped out in many different ways besides cheering their own children on. Together we made a great team and everyone could celebrate in the success of the running of the day. Congratulations to all the champion runners, throwers and jumpers and to those who were declared the age champions. We should have a very strong team to progress onto the zone carnival which is to be held early next term. It was great to see the support students gave to each other and for the wonderful have-a-go attitude from everybody. In the end that is what makes us winners! The Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts commences tomorrow with Speech and Drama for the first week, Music the second week and then Dance for almost two weeks in the holidays. Best wishes to all St Anthony s students performing at the festival in individual, pairs or groups. This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to get to perform on stage. Tomorrow five of our Kindergarten students are performing in the Nursery Rhyme section to kick start the festival. That should be worth watching! Next week ALL students will be performing in the Verse Speaking choirs with their classes. On Tuesday Years 5 & 6 will participate in the first section of the day commencing at 9.45am, followed by Year 3 and then Year 4 commencing at approximately 10.30am. On Wednesday it is Kindergarten who will perform in the first section which commences at 9.45am followed by Year 1 and then Year 2 from 10.30 am. Parents are most welcome to come and watch their children perform. It cost $6.00 to enter each day. Make sure you have CASH as they have NO EFTPOS at the ticket box! Please DO NOT DISTRACT your child when they are on stage. All students are to wear FULL DRESS UNIFORM for their performances. Buses will transport students to Murwillumbah on both days. Congratulations to Kayla Mupunga who was baptised during on Sunday. Year 2 and other students preparing for Confirmation had a Retreat today. Some of the students from St Joseph s College helped out with the day. By all accounts it was great day with some students saying it was the best day of their lives! High praise indeed! Well done to Mrs Falcke and the Yr 2 teachers (Mrs Naylor and Mrs Brown) and the CSYMA students from the College for the wonderful opportunity for our students. Well done everyone! With only two weeks of this term left we are looking to the term ahead. Mrs Donnelly will be taking six weeks of long service leave. Miss Maddison Sleba who is currently teaching PE will be teaching Year 4 during those six weeks and Mr Brad McAskill will be taking over the PE during that time. Both Mrs Lauren Plunkett and Mrs Gabrielle Eadie (Miss Morosini) will be taking Maternity leave. We wish both ladies all the very best during their final weeks before their babies arrive. Mrs Dianne Caspersz will be working in Year 3 on Thursdays and Fridays next term. If you treat others as if they were what they ought to be, they will become what they ought to be and could be. God bless. Lynne Term 2 Week 8 22 June 2018

But God doesn t do just anything ; he s too wise for that. I think it all depends on the relationship. A father does anything that is good for his children, but sometimes children don t know what is good for them. When prayers on my list aren t answered the way I want them to be, I no longer scratch them out. Perhaps the answer will come with a man riding a scooter, or in a baby stronger than anyone could imagine. - Excerpted from The Prayer List by Jane Knuth First Holy Communion dates and preparation will take place in Term 3.
