ISSUE 8 JAUNARY& FEBRUARY 2012 Special points of interest: QUZ COMPETITION CLASS ASSEMBLIES INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL EXHIBITION SPORTS DAY MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL S DESK Dear Parents and fellow educators and my dear students, In this editorial I would like to concentrate on some character building words which can continue into the next few months. Society is rapidly changing as a whole. There is a combination of factors that affect overall discipline of the student community. For this newsletter we would like to focus on the following words, which I am sure the parents could take up at home. Responsibility Perseverance Kindness Compassion Dependability Work Generosity Thankfulness Friendliness Manners Determination Obedience Forgiveness I would like families to use these key words build character traits in kids. These key words could be stuck above a mirror or the fridge or maybe the LCD TV screen!! The power of positive encouragement is amazing.. Use each word for a week and see the difference. All the best to all of you.. Let's join hands to make our student community a better world. All the best Thanks & Regards John A Bagul PRINCIPAL SOUTHCITYINTERNATIONALSCHOOL

REPORT ON CLASS IV A ASSEMBLY On the 19 th of January, 2012, Class IV A conducted a special assembly on Anti-Bullying. It was named Stop! and the power point presentation arranged by the school counsellors, Chandrima and Ms.Gargi projected the ill effects of bullying in school. A few skits put up by the class were well appreciated and conveyed a message of a united effort to stop bullying across the school. A No Bullying poster was circulated throughout the school. On Saturday the 14 th of January 2011, Class IV B put up a special assembly wherein they spoke about the four values that form the most important part of our lives. They tried to spread the message of love, peace, faith and hope. They also urged everyone to keep the flame of hope burning within ourselves because with hope in our lives no matter how bad things are peace, love and faith will shine brightly in our lives. They enacted a small story inspired by the Bible titled The Four Candles. Children dressed in white with silver crowns held the burning candles creating an ambience so soft that one could hear the candles speak. The assembly ended with a candle march and children swayed to the tune of Aashayein mile dil ki HAPPY VALENTINE S DAY Tiny Tots expressed their warmth, care and love for their teachers and parents this way..

Tiny Tots proudly sing I love my India fluttering their well colored flags in the air! The buzz of excitement filled the room as I began giving out their Tri- colored flags to take home. I felt warm and fuzzy inside to see that respect for the country in the eyes of my little three year olds. IF THERE WAS HEAVEN ON EARTH. IT WAS WITH THESE LITTLE ANGELS. We all wish you a very happy Republic Day!

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL EXHIBITION 31st January 2012 The International School Exhibition was held at our school Auditorium. The exhibits were based on the 10 projects which our students are working on for the International School Award with ample support from our respected principal, guidance and hard work of our teachers. The activity was presided by The British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Sanjay Wadhwani. He took time his busy schedule to visit and appreciate every stall displayed. Five premium school students from the city visited the exhibition and the parents too appreciated the talent of our budding students.

ANNUAL SPORTS DAY 3rd & 4th February 2012 The ANNUAL SPORTS MEET 2012 was a grand success which provided ample space for our students to prove their physical prowess, determination to succeed and sportsmanship. February 3rd was the day for the Pre- Primary and February 4th was the day for the Primary and Middle School. The children belonging to the 4 Houses displayed their competitive spirit in the various events. Cheered on by their proud and indulgent parents the sports meet proved to be a wonderful occasion where it brought the entire community of students, parents and the staff of SCIS together. A series of prizes were given out and Philosopher House achieved the First position in sports for this year. The Chief Guests for both the days were the Vice-Principal Of The Heritage School Mrs. Meenakshi Atal and Col.Kamal Raj Yadav from Bengal Area respectively. As the Academic Session (2011-12) comes to a close, with the Final Examination just round the corner, the curtains came down with the Creator House Assemblies of the Senior and Junior section alluding to the topics Examination Fears and How to Tackle It and Tips to Prepare for the Final Assessments.
