18th May 2018 Year 5 went on an exciting trip to the Auckland Castle Park. The children worked in groups and did some research about a number of animals that can be found in the park such as ants, deer, squirrels and woodpeckers. They thought about where they lived - i.e. the ground or up in the trees and what their surroundings would be like. They took texture rubbings from the bark, benches sand the tone wall. They collected interesting items such as sheep wool, leaves and pine cones and were also able to take photos that will be developed for Friday and drew pictures of things that were interested in which will form the basis of their art project back in school. This was the second session of the Auckland Project, based on the curriculum areas of Art and Enterprise. Year 5 Artists excel! Year 5 had an amazing time when they visited King James School this week. They were able to experience working in the art studio and to produce an excellent piece of fabric print based on natural form, texture and pattern. All our students worked fantastically hard and their work will shortly be on view in school. A massive thanks to the staff at King James. Plant Sale for Meningitis research On Tuesday 22nd May St. Anne s gardening club will be selling a wide selection of plants on the yard between 3.30pm and 4.30pm. Plants include both perennials and annuals and have been grown locally and at school. We have dahlias, alliums, heleniums, geraniums, marigolds and many others. Meningitis can have devastating consequences so it would be great if we could help to conquer this terrible problem.
