Prior Learning Assessment: Your Work and Life Experiences Matter We recognize that not all education occurs in a classroom, and that adults may have acquired college-level knowledge through work and life experience. Our assessment course (APL 100), is a three credit, semester-based, learner-centered experience in which you are personally guided through reflection, retrieval, and writing processes. You ll create a portfolio that documents your personal and professional knowledge. As I went through the APL process, I learned to appreciate the true value of my knowledge and no longer defer to another s opinion that I thought was better than mine.
