AGM Report The 2018 AGM was held in Dunstan Hall on Wednesday 7 th February and was well attended by teaching staff, parents and Governing Council members. Chair of the Governing Council Rebecca Singh provided a welcome and summary of issues that Council focused their efforts on throughout 2017 including development of the school s Masterplan, the decision to move forwards with installing an artificial grass playing surface outside of the gym (with installation set to begin next Monday 19 th February), ongoing negotiations with NPSP Council to establish a safe drop-off zone on Osmond Terrace, development of a Parents Code of Conduct and review of the Sports Code of Conduct. The continued involvement, contribution and support from our wonderful school community towards many volunteering efforts across the year was also noted with great appreciation. A very productive year indeed! The leadership report was presented by Nicola Brelsford highlighting significant gains in Maths and high achievement maintained in Literacy across the school as well as positive data also emerging out of the Engagement & Wellbeing Survey. Michelle Yandell (Treasurer, Governing Council) presented the Finance Report, highlighting that current funding will be directed towards extra school support, new learning technologies and setting up a new flexible learning space. Surplus carried forward (including from fundraising efforts last year) will this year be directed towards the new playing surface, further roll-out of the Masterplan and a new entrance into the school grounds from Beulah Road. Seven Governing Council members retired at the end of 2017. Four re-nominated to stand another two year term (Rebecca Singh (Chair), Michelle Yandell (Treasurer), Troy Lawrence and Mel Weeks (Secretary), Amit Chugh, Shanshan Galbraith and Marc Morrell were welcomed to Governing Council to fill the remaining three places, and we look forward to another productive year ahead. Mel Weeks on behalf of Governing Council Congratulations! NPS Year 6 student, Chaya B is a member of the RoboRoos East team which emerged champions at the National First Lego League (FLL) championship held in Sydney in December, having previously also won the Adelaide Regional FLL Championship! The FLL is one of the oldest robotics competitions in the world, comprising both a robotics challenge and a research project. This year, over 250,000 middle-school children from 88 countries took part in FLL contests throughout the world. As national champions, Chaya and her team will represent Australia in the World FLL Championship to be held in Houston (USA) in April. Way to go Chaya and good luck!

We plan to hold market stall type activities to engage our audience in a variety of cultural activities, with the aim of enacting and highlighting our school values of: Community, Creativity, Opportunity and Diversity. In the planning stages of this event we are looking to see if there are community members that might be willing and able to commit some time to supporting groups of students. If you would like to be involved we would really appreciate hearing from you. We are thinking activities might include: food demonstrations, language, artefacts, dance, games, sport, etc. If you would like to be involved, and/or have some skills or knowledge to share, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Daniela Lawlor in person or phone 8362 4666, or email daniela.lawlor158@schools.sa.edu.au Produce and Food Swap If you have some, leave some; If you need some, take some! Many of us have amazing vegetable gardens or excess produce at home, or are able to spare a few non-perishable items. As the poem suggests, if you need some, take some; if you have some, leave some, or swap some! (Produce can be left, taken or swapped from our front office)
