Fall is upon us and it is going to be full of some amazing PTA events. Thank you to everyone who supported our Orange Ruler Fun Run in September. We not only met our goal of 40,000 we were able to exceed it! Amazing! I would also like to shout out our Fantastic membership chair Michelle Splaver. She has been working so hard to help Briarwood achieve a 100% membership with our 18-19 A Minion Reasons to Join Briarwood PTA. If you re not a member you can sign up online. Your membership gives your child a voice. I hope many of you were able to enjoy our first family movie night of the year. It has been our most successful movie night to date! The Reflections art competition also got underway in October. All entries have now been turned in and will be judged in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to hear which Briarwood students have advanced to the district level for judging. All of the Reflection entries will be set up to view during Pizza Bingo on November 9t h. We have so many amazing things planned the next few months Our En chanted themed Fall Scholastic Book Fair kicked off November 5 th as well as our annual Apple Cup Pizza Bingo on the 9 th of November. We will also be showing off our the Reflections contest participants artwork and awards down the library hallway. Regular (80 characters) $5 Annual Holiday Gift Barn Collection Drive Kick-Off: Our annual holiday gift collection drive to help those less fortunate in our community kicks off November 13 and runs through November 30th. Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank's Holiday Gift Barn program serves 1,500 children in the Issaquah School District each year. Pickering Barn is turned into a huge toy store where parents can choose 3-4 gifts for each of their children, plus stocking stuffers. In cooperation with the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank, Briarwood PTA will be collecting brand new unwrapped gifts for children ages birth to Age 18 to be used in a "gift shop" for Food Bank clients. Collection boxes will be in the front entry of school and also near the Lost and Found downstairs. Please see the Flyer for more details. Programs & Events PASSIVE FUNDRAISING GIVES BRIARWOOD FREE MONEY It s easier than you think to earn money for Briarwood PTA. Let's show our appreciation by providing a delicious Turkey lunch for the Briarwood Staff on Tuesday, November 13. Please have all your items in the staff lounge by 10:30 am labeled "Staff Lunch" and make sure your dishes/utensils are marked with your name. Additional helpers are needed for clean up - Please sign up for those spots as well. Clean up helpers should arrive at 1:45 pm (We expect about a 45 minute clean up). If you are interested in helping out, please visit our website (briarwoodelementarypta.org) to sign up. Also in the coming weeks our Holiday Gift Drive to support the Issaquah Food & Clothing Bank. Starting Tuesday, November 13th, and running through Friday, November 30th, students can drop off new, unwrapped gifts in the designated collection boxes to make the holidays a little brighter for those less fortunate. We also have our Annual Gobble Till You Wobble Staff Appreciation Luncheon on Tuesday November 13 where we like to spoil our staff with a yummy lunch. Sign up on the PTA website to bring a dish. Lastly, our next General PTA meeting will be held on Monday, November 20st at 6:30 in the school library. This will be the first opportunity for teachers to present grant applications. By attending this meeting, all PTA members will have the opportunity to vote on any grants presented and will play a role in deciding how our PTA dollars are spent. We have a fun class competition every month to see which class can bring in the most. The monthly prize is free popcorn, and the end of year prize is a Ice cream Party for your class. Matching Funds is a PTA program that helps facilitate the matching of any monetary donations made to the Briarwood PTA by corporate employers who provide the benefit to their employees. For qualifying employees, it s an easy way to double their donations and help the PTA go even farther in helping to support Briarwood Elementary throughout the school year.
