UPPER SWAN PRIMARY SCHOOL An Independent Public School 1204 Great Northern Highway, Upper Swan 6069 Telephone: 9296 4622 Fax. 9296 4775 Newsletter Volume 14 Term 3 19 September, 2017 Our Purpose We will create a caring learning environment that provides students with the opportunity to develop the academic and social skills they need to achieve their individual potential. School Website: www.upperswanps.wa.edu.au Editorial If you wish to contact the Principal - Stephen.Green@education.wa.edu.au New Associate Principal Term 4 During term 3 a selection process was conducted for the Associate Principal position that opened up when Mrs Guy moved to Lancelin. Unfortunately Miss Morgan was not the successful applicant. I would like to thank Miss Morgan for the exceptional job she has done at our school and wish her all the very best for the future. She will return to her Associate Principal position at Waddington Primary. Our new Associate Principal is Ms Pam Hahnel. She commences here on day 1 next term. Pam has experience as a Principal and Associate Principal at Bassendean Primary. She has a great deal of expertise in Literacy and early childhood education. I have worked with Pam before when I was Principal at Bassendean. I am confident she will be an asset to our school Talent Quest Assembly Friday Morning Miss Kongras, our student councillors and many children have done a lot of work running auditions for the final of the talent quest. With so many entries, we are splitting the quest in to four categories and awarding prizes in each one. The assembly may run for the full two hours of the first session of the day. Parents and family members are welcome to attend. Cancelled: Interschool Athletics Thursday 21 st Today some of our students competed in stage 1 of the interschool carnival the jumps, throws, 200m, 400m and 800m. Stage 2 has been cancelled as the weather forecast says there is a 90% chance of 4 to 10mm of rain. The carnival won t be re-scheduled. Faction Carnival Champions After eight long years without a win, it was great to see Shaw get over the line for a morale boosting victory. Since their last win in 2008 Loton had won three in a row then Belhus had won the last five. So perhaps next year it might be time for Loton to pop up for the win. Final Points: Shaw 909, Loton 779, Belhus 754
