Enrollment The deadline for the early enrollment has passed. There is still time to enroll but the fee is now $30. ****Enroll before the end of December so you can continue to receive a monthly newsletter. Planning on bringing cattle to the December weigh-in? Make sure your enrolled. You will not receive information about the weigh-in if you are not enrolled in 4honline. Need help with your enrollment. Visit the website iowa.4honline.com If you don t remember your password select I forgot my password. If you were new last year and have never been in 4honline, select I forgot my password. You need to set it up! Have friends that want to join? They can go into 4honline and join as well! ***PROJECTS make sure that you add what projects you are interested in. This is the only way we know to send you special information about upcoming weigh-ins and workshops! State Opportunities Iowa 4-H Camera Corps. A talented group of youth photographers working together to make beautiful, powerful, and creative photographs of communities from across of the state of Iowa. It is a unique opportunity to practice your photography skills and receive public recognition and juror feedback on your work. Each month, a photography theme is provided with a different focus. Professional evaluators will give individual feedback to each photographer after they submit their monthly photograph, and then each photograph will be exhibited digitally on the Iowa 4-H Facebook page where voting will be open to the public. The top ten Juror's Choice and top ten People s Choice photographs will be printed, framed, and shown at statewide gallery exhibitions every month. New for this year we are adding a certificate program where youth photographers will level up from newbie to master photographers as they complete certain tasks and challenges. All youth from all counties are welcome to join Iowa 4-H Camera Corps. We want to help you become the best photographers you can be! The website also has some great tips for all photographers. The application to join Iowa 4-H Camera Corps 2018/2019 can be found here: https:// form.jotform.com/82636644984976 Horse extravaganza Mark your calendars for March 22-24 at Ellsworth Equestrian Center in Iowa Falls. Do you own a horse? This is for you! Don t own a horse, but love them this is for you too? This event is more than just riding a horse. There are many contests such as quiz bowl, horse judging, model horse, public speaking/demonstration and horse clinic. Open to all Iowa youth. More information to come. If you re interested in attending, let the office know. Some of these contests can be done by a team. Let s see if Tama County can get a team to go!!
Club Food Collection Challenge Awesome job collecting food for the Food Banks in Tama County! Check out the clubs that participated and their designs. The winning club with the most likes on our county Facebook page was Gladbrook Clover Kids Young Guns Buckingham Boosters Clutier Cowboys & Cowgirls and Clutier Clover Kids The food collected by Clutier clubs and Young Guns went to the Food Bank in Tama. They collected 181.5 pounds of food. The Food bank was thrilled to receive all the food as they were running low! And don t forget to raise $$$ for Meals from the Heartland. Our goal is $3,200.00!! And we will package them in April! National 4-H Week Thank you to everyone who participated in our Facebook page daily challenges for National 4-H Week. Loved seeing all the memories and photos! Congratulations to GMG secondary school for the most 4-H members wearing their 4-H t-shirts to school (and sending me the photo)! I ll be visiting soon with a treat. Keep spreading the 4-H Spirit!!

More State Opportunities Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) Celebrate the 60th year of CWF in 2019 by joining the Iowa 4-H CWF Trip held June 14-22, 2019. All teens who are currently in 9th-12th grades are eligible to register for the trip. There are 48 seats for teens. The trip will cost $1850 and includes the program, travel, lodging, and most meals. Adult chaperones are needed as well. Look for updates and registration information to arrive soon on the website www.extension.iastate.edu/4h/cwf. Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF) is a 4-H leadership and civic engagement program for high school youth (completed grades 9-12 at the time of the trip). Each summer teens gather at the National 4-H Conference Center to learn what it means to be a strong leader in their community, country, and world. Objectives for the program are: Strengthen communication, leadership, and other citizenship skills on a national level Understand the importance of civic and social responsibilities as they relate to the development of better citizens and leaders Exchange ideas, practice respect, and form friendships with other youth from diverse backgrounds Experience hands-on learning using the historical backdrop of our nation s capital city, Washington, D.C. These objectives are met through pre-trip education, speakers, workshops, daily excursions to view national sites, a day at the Capitol with elected officials, and a delegate designed and implemented action plan. Deadline to register is January 15, 2019 Mark your calendars State 4-H Conference is June 25-27! This is for youth that are currently in 8th 12th grade. Tama County Opportunities Clover Kid Gift Making Workshop Saturday, December 1 9:00-11:30 a.m. For K-3rd graders! We will be creating 4 different gifts that you can share for the holidays. Complete with gift wrapping, you will have 4 projects ready to put under the tree. Cost is $10.00 for supplies and snack. Class size is limited. This is open to non 4-H members too, so invite a friend. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required! Friends will need to complete a medical form. Register by November 26th by contacting the Extension Office. Payment must also be made prior to attending so that we have all the supplies purchased. Tama County 4-H and FFA Swine Grant Program The Tama County Swine Grant Program is looking for 4-H and FFA members (grades 4-12th) to apply for the 2019 Swine Grant. This grant is for members who have never shown swine before. The grant will purchase 6 feeder pigs and provide up to $700 towards the purchase of feed. Application process includes: An application, essay questions and a letter of reference from your 4-H/ FFA leader. All applicants will have an interview with the swine grant committee. Those selected will attend field trips/meetings, the annual Pork Producer banquet, exhibit at the 2019 Tama County Fair and submit their record book. More information, a list of guidelines and the application are available at the Extension Office or found on the website. Applications must be postmarked by December 1, 2018 or sooner.
