ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY OF SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA UNIVERSITY AND THE BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY DIVISION OF DELGADO COMMUNITY COLLEGE (DELGADO) November 2008 The College of Science and Technology of Southeastern Louisiana University (Southeastern) and the Business and Technology Division of Delgado Community College (Delgado) have signed an agreement that establishes a direct articulation program. This articulation program allows students who complete the courses prescribed in Delgado s Computer Information Technology Associate of Applied Science Degree Technical Specialist Concentration to transfer as juniors in Southeastern s Bachelor of Science Degree program in Computer Science Information Technology Concentration within the College of Science and Technology.

Delgado to Southeastern Agreement A. Program Overview Delgado Community College (Delgado) students with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Computer Information Technology (Technical Specialist Concentration) will be admitted as juniors on the Bachelor of Science degree program in Computer Science (Information Technology Concentration) within the College of Science and Technology of Southeastern Louisiana University (Southeastern), provided they meet Southeastern s admission requirements. Course requirements for Delgado s program (together with Southeastern courses to which they transfer and some additional notes) are described on page two of this document. The total number of credit hours required to complete a bachelor s degree from Southeastern is 121-124 semester hours; students participating in this articulation can transfer up to 61 semester hours for degree credit from Delgado to Southeastern. This is a direct articulation program in which Delgado students will earn a bachelor s degree from Southeastern Louisiana University after successfully completing at least 60 additional semester hours in a prescribed major at Southeastern and meeting all Southeastern degree requirements. Delgado students will follow the requirements in the Southeastern General Catalogue in force at the time they enter Delgado provided it is not over 10 years old and provided there was no break in enrollment of over 5 years. In order to graduate from Southeastern, students must complete at least 50% of Computer Science Information Technology Concentration at Southeastern and achieve the following: - A minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0 ( C ) on all coursework, on all work attempted at Southeastern, and on all work in their major field, as well as a grade of C or higher in all Computer Science courses and in Math 165 and Math 241 OR - A minimum Degree Grade Point Average of 2.0 ( C) on all coursework applicable to the student s curriculum; on all required coursework in the major field, and on Southeastern coursework applicable to the student s curriculum, as well as a grade of C or higher in all Computer Science courses and in Math 165 and Math 241

B. Prerequisites Some courses in this program may require prerequisites. See the Delgado and Southeastern catalogs for specific information, as well as the Notes section, below. C. Program Evaluation Southeastern will evaluate on a regular basis the performance of this articulation program s students and other transfer students in upper level computing courses and compare their performance to that of continuing Southeastern students. If the performance of articulation program students is significantly lower than that of continuing Southeastern students, faculty representatives from Southeastern and Delgado will meet to enhance the alignment of courses from the two programs D. Program Renewal This agreement will be renewed every three years from the date of signing and will be continued, modified or terminated upon mutual agreement of the parties. E. Notes to Accompanying Course Matrix (Below) 1. All courses in the major, as well as MATH 130 and MATH 131 must be earned with a grade of C or better in order to transfer. 2. All students receiving transfer credit for Southeastern s English 102 with a C or better must validate that credit by passing the English Proficiency Examination. The exam must be passed during the first two regular semesters of enrollment at Southeastern. 3. Math Requirements Note that Delgado s degree requirements for MATH are met either by the MATH courses specified in the Delgado Catalog, or by the student completing higher level courses, which is the case for this articulation program. Note, also that Delgado students may need to take additional courses to prepare for the higher level MATH courses required by Southeastern s Bachelor of Science program; such courses would be required in addition to the credits required for Delgado s and Southeastern s degree programs. 4. Consult CMIN Department Chair for pool of courses from which DCC students must select a course in order to transfer. 5. The Lab BIOL 143 is optional and will transfer to Southeastern if completed with a C or better. 6. Where indicated in the following table, there are four cases (one in MATH and three in CMIN) in which transfer students earn credit for the second course in each bundled-

pair sequence. That is, in each of these cases, the first course in the pair at Delgado is a pre-requisite to the second. These notes clarify the following table: a. Southeastern will transfer CMIN 207 for CMPS 161 as long as CMIN 203 continues to be a prerequisite for CMIN 207 b. Southeastern will transfer CMIN 220 for CMPS 294 as long as CMIN 216 continues to be a prerequisite for CMIN 220 c. Southeastern will substitute CMPS 280 for the combination of CMPS 120 and ET 212 for students using this articulation d. Southeastern will substitute MATH 165 for the combination of MATH 161 and MATH 162 for students using this articulation.
