Eastern York School District School Board Meeting February 10, 2011, 7:00 P.M. District Administration Offices Wrightsville, PA 17368 The meeting was called to order by D. Caldwell, President. The following members were present and they were: R. Abel, D. Caldwell, K. Clark, R. Flaharty, Jr., K. Graby, J. Higgins, M. Keller, D. Shelley, R. Zepp. Others in attendance were: Dr. D. Pianowski, Superintendent; Dr. R. Becker, Assistant Superintendent; P. Spare, Solicitor; T. Weaver, Secretary; Samantha Weekley and Isaac Jensen, Student Representatives; and one reporter each from the York Daily Record and the York Dispatch. There were seven patrons present. President Caldwell announced that the Board held an Executive Session on February 3, 2011 for legal and personnel issues. ADOPTION OF MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING On a motion by J. Higgins, seconded by R. Zepp, the Board approved the minutes from the January 20, 2011 School Board Meeting as previously distributed. The motion passed: 9 - Yes, 0 - No. TREASURER S REPORT - None. STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES REPORT - Samantha Weekley and Isaac Jensen Isaac Jensen Samantha Weekley Shared upcoming events in all three elementary schools. Shared upcoming events at the Middle and High School. HEARING OF PATRONS - Agenda Items - None. SECRETARY S REPORT 1. 2010-11 General Fund Expenditures A motion was made by D. Shelley, seconded by R. Flaharty, Jr., to approve payment of the 2010-11 General Fund expenditures. The motion passed: 9 - Yes, 0 - No. January 21, 2011 - Paid - $ 480,415.55 January 28, 2011 - Paid - 126,134.08 January 31, 2011 - Paid - 933,744.49 February 4, 2011 - Paid - 226,646.58 Total - $ 1,766,940.70

2 SECRETARY S REPORT - Cont d. 2. Preliminary Budget for the 2011-12 Fiscal Year A motion was made by J. Higgins, seconded by M. Keller, to approve the Proposed Preliminary Budget for the 2011-12 fiscal year with expenditures in the amount of $39,412,621. The motion passed by Roll Call Vote A: 6 - Yes - D. Caldwell, K. Clark, K. Graby, J. Higgins, M. Keller, R. Zepp. 3 - No - R. Abel, R. Flaharty, Jr., D. Shelley. 0 - Abstain. 0 - Absent. 3. Solicit Bids for Athletic Field Renovations A motion was made by M. Keller, seconded by K. Graby, to authorize the Administration to solicit bids for Athletic Field Renovations at the Eastern York High School as previously discussed. The motion passed: 9 - Yes, 0 - No. SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT Dr. Pianowski stated that the Board accepted several retirements at the last Board meeting, and she provided the Board with the years of service of those retiring staff members. Dr. Pianowski shared that she and several Board members attended the Board of Directors Recognition Dinner hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Shelley was recognized for his 37 years of service to Eastern York School District and 29 years of service to York County School of Technology. Mr. Keller was recognized for his five years of service to Eastern York School District. Dr. Pianowski presented the following members with recognition awards for five years of service to Eastern York School District: Mr. Caldwell, Mrs. Clark, and Mr. Zepp. Those members were unable to attend the dinner. Dr. Pianowski provided members with an updated student guide for the York County School of Technology. Dr. Pianowski shared that Eastern York High School student, Miles Stryckler, is a National Merit Scholarship finalist. 1. INFORMATIONAL A. 2011-2012 Holiday 12-Month Employees Calendar Dr. Pianowski stated that the proposed 2011-12 Holiday 12-Month Employees Calendar is similar to the current year s, and will be on the March 17, 2011 agenda for approval.

Number Worlds - Mathematics Intervention Program Dr. Pianowski provided an overview of a new Mathematics Intervention Program, Number Worlds, to be piloted at the elementary and middle school levels. The program is targeted to focus on students who are one or more grade levels behind in math. C. Proposal for Pilot Program with Devereux Dr. Becker provided an overview of a proposal for a pilot program with Devereux. This pilot program is designed to strengthen the mental health care and emotional support services to students in their home district. There is no cost for this pilot program. 2. PERSONNEL On a motion by J. Higgins, seconded by M. Keller, the Board approved the following Personnel Items on the regular agenda and addendum: A. Resignations 1. The motion passed: 9 - Yes, 0 - No. PRESIDENT S REPORT - Mr. Caldwell President Caldwell asked Dr. Pianowski to add Capital Campaign to the next discussion agenda. FINAL BOARD COMMENTS R. Flaharty, Jr. Mr. Flaharty presented six books titled, Cappy s Tails, by Peter and Cheryl Barnes, to Dr. Pianowski to share with the elementary schools. The books were distributed at the Board of Directors Recognition Dinner sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
