Welcome from the Head of Post 16 We are delighted that you are considering Ashfield Post 16 as a venue in which to continue your education. Ashfield is a large and diverse Post 16 with an intake from many different secondary schools. We deliver a wide range of academic and vocational courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3 and attempt to cater for all students in the local area. 2 The inclusive nature of Ashfield Post 16 is something that we are very proud of. In addition to a wide curriculum, there is a very strong pastoral system in place. A team of Tutors and Heads of Year will ensure that you succeed with your chosen courses and also help you to develop your personal, social and employability skills. Our aim is to develop you as a fully rounded individual, preparing you to move onto the next phase in your life, be that university, apprenticeship or employment. Life in Post 16 is unique. It forms a bridge between compulsory schooling and higher education or employment. You will be given greater freedoms than in Years 7-11 but you must also accept greater responsibility. You are expected to work with a higher degree of maturity and take a fuller responsibility for your own learning. You will have to commit a larger proportion of your free time to study. You will be expected to act as a role model for the younger students in the school and so expectations of attitude and conduct are very high. If you are ready for the challenge, if you want to belong to a vibrant Post 16 and if you think you can positively contribute to our continued success, please read on. Miss L Maguire, Head of Post 16 Ashfield Post 16 provides many outstanding facilities for students to allow for effective learning as well as free time areas for us to enjoy! Best of everything! Jack, Year 12 3

Expectations, Aspirations Joining Ashfield Post 16 was one of the best decisions I ve ever made. I have had constant support from all of my teachers to achieve the best grades possible and been provided with countless opportunities. I have great career prospects due to this and believe that I have been given a head start because of these opportunities. Although my time at Ashfield Post 16 is coming to an end, I will cherish every moment I had here and will always be grateful. Summer, Year 13 & Achievements has an A Level pass rate of above 99% year on year. We expect our students to work hard, and in return we support and encourage them all the way, taking great pride in enabling them to achieve and go on to follow their dreams when they leave us. Our students study in our state-of-the-art Post 16 Centre which includes our millionpound resource centre, equipped with a bank of computers and providing quiet study areas. Bright modern classrooms, science labs, ICT rooms, photography studio, hair and beauty salons, construction unit, training kitchen and bistro cafe and nursery all provide students with the very best facilities within which to learn. Staff are subject specialists for academic subjects, and industry professionals for the vocational subjects, meaning that each time our students go into a lesson they have an expert teaching them. Everything we do is focused on helping our students to achieve their potential, realise their goals, and leave the school as rounded human beings ready to make a positive contribution to the world. Whether taking part in the annual extravaganza that is our school show, performing in one of our many concerts, pursuing one of the vast number of sporting activities on offer, or getting involved with the school trips and social events, there really is something for everyone. In addition, we provide our Post 16 students with the opportunity to earn money whilst at school - either by taking up the responsibility of becoming a lunchtime supervisor in the lower school dining hall, or taking a lifeguarding qualification and working at our own swimming pool.
