Leadership Training Matching Grant (LTMG) Program Information for students The Leadership Training Matching Grant (LTMG) is funded by CCMBC in partnership with the local church. The purpose of the grant is to: encourage people to enter ministry leadership training; encourage churches to actively discern those with potential for pastoral ministry, cross-cultural ministry, and/or professional Christian service and to remain connected to their students while they study, and; incentivize persistence through to graduation and into ministry. Eligibility MB students pursuing seminary or graduate studies: Refers to students enrolled in a graduate degree program at a participating MB Biblical Seminary Canada, either at the Langley (ACTS Seminaries) or Winnipeg (Canadian Mennonite University) campuses. CCMBC partners with the student s local church, each providing 25% of tuition. Students are responsible for the remaining 50% of tuition. LTMG recipients will not be eligible to apply for MB Biblical Seminary Canada General Financial Awards but may be eligible for other endowed bursaries; remaining funds may be applied to living expenses after tuition has been paid. CCMBC will rely almost entirely on the collective discernment process of the school and the local church in determining a student s eligibility for LTMG funding. MB students pursuing undergraduate studies at an MB undergraduate school: Refers to students enrolled in a degree program, and who have successfully completed two full years of study, and who are intending to pursue pastoral ministry, cross-cultural ministry, or professional Christian service. The LTMG supports students completing their degrees by matching their supporting church s financial support up to $2,000. Future eligibility for LTMG funding towards seminary studies will require a new application and discernment process. The LTMG does not limit eligibility for other scholarships; remaining funds may be applied to living expenses after tuition has been paid. CCMBC will rely almost entirely on the collective discernment process of the school and the local church in determining a student s eligibility for LTMG funding. Eligible students must meet the following requirements (some limitations apply): Be a member of an MB church in Canada for at least six months prior to the date of the application;

Be active in volunteer or paid ministry in a local church; Be accepted as a degree-seeking student in a participating MB school; Achieve a passing grade in all courses funded and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5; Intend to pursue pastoral ministry, cross-cultural ministry, or professional Christian service with the Mennonite Brethren upon graduation; Complete a discernment process with local church pastor (undergraduate students); complete a discernment process with local congregation (graduate students). Requirements for Application The supporting church is required to: Affirm the student through the discernment process as outlined in the application package; Publicly acknowledge to the congregation the discernment process and affirm the call to ministry for the student (e.g., announcement, bulletin, newsletter, website); Make a commitment to support the student and provide the financial contribution of the church (25%); For more details see the LTMG application package. The student is required to: Prepare a personal profile; Participate in the discernment process; Pay the student s contribution to the tuition fees; Submit a complete application package. For more details see the LTMG application package. The application process: This process can begin up to one year prior to beginning enrollment in the school. 1. The student and supporting church review the application details to confirm eligibility. 2. The church and student complete the ministry discernment process. 3. The church and student complete their respective sections of the LTMG application package and the student submits the completed application. Applications will be reviewed and approved once all required documentation has been submitted. Applications will be processed in the order in which they were received. When allocating funds, full-time students will be given preference over part-time students; part-time funding requests are not guaranteed. 4. If the application is approved, the Canadian Conference of MB Churches will send copies of the acceptance letter confirming LTMG approval to the student, their supporting church, and the participating school.
