GROUP IN ACTION Training Course on Group Dynamics 26th of August - 4th of September Borjom-Kharagauli National Park, Georgia
This training course will bring together 32 youth workers from 10 different organizations to train them in group facilitation and group dynamics by using outdoor education and experiential learning methods. The participants will go through an experiential learning circle and develop both inter- and intrapersonal awareness by developing practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in working with groups. In doing so we hope that the youth workers will improve their work with social disadvantaged youth since the participants will have improved the knowledge, skills and competences in working with groups and hereby have gained a understanding of what is going on in group dynamics. The project aims to give the participants the opportunity to develop practical skills in the facilitation of groups and hereby improving the quality of inclusive youth work Objectives: - To experience and reflect upon real-life processes of a group. - To gain a deeper theoretical and practical understanding of the dynamics of group processes. - To gain practical tools and methods for group facilitation. - Develop cross-cultural awareness by providing structured space for sharing, experiencing and addressing inter cultural learning. - Developing teamwork, leadership and cooperation
Participant's profile The general profile of participants are the following: The target group of this training course is composed of youth workers and trainers who directly are working with young people from excluded groups and/or are from these groups themselves. The participants should be young people who are either connected to or active in their local youth organisation, who are supported by their organisation, or work with groups of youngsters with social obsticles. No big experience in outdoor is required, but an interest in the theme is essential. Moreover they should have a strong interest in outdoor education, experiential methodologies and be willing to use it in their future youth work. Each organization should recruit 4 participants, ideally 2 female and 2 male, that fit into the following participants' profile: All in all the participants should: Ideally be aged 18-35 Be in good physical shape Be working on a local or regional level with socially excluded youth Have proven personal and organizational interest in this training Be willing to continue cooperation after the training Be fully available during the whole training course (meaning 9 days and travel) and willing to participate actively Able to work and discuss in the English language In a position within the organization to apply the outcomes of the training, meaning working on issues related to human resource and organizational management.
What to bring Please be prepared for a project outdoors in any kind kind of weather conditions. The weather in Borjomi, Georgia in the end of August is usually around 20-30 degrees, but be prepared for various climate changes (sun, wind, rainy days and cold nights. Here is a list of things so that you forget nothing: - Comfortable rucksack for hiking - Sleeping bag and sleeping pad - to spend some time/hours out of doors - Warm clothing, fleece or woollen sweaters, etc. - Wind- and rainproof jackets and pants - Hiking boots or strong shoes, woollen socks, etc. - sun cap or headscarf (and sunscreme) - Loose and comfortable indoor clothes - Indoor shoes and indoor sports shoes - Swimming costume and towel - Toilet-bag - Towel - Sunglasses - Pocket light Picture of hiking boots to avoid confusion. We mean real hiking boots! :) Tents are provided! But if you want to bring your own feel free to do that.! NOTE: There will be no internet during the hiking trip as we will be staying in the nature.
Travel The cheapest flight connections to Tbilisi are via Istanbul (Pegasus & Turkish Airlines), Kiev (Wizz Air, Georgian and Ukrainian airlines) Poland (Krakow, Warsaw, Katovice) Budapest and Vilnius (Wizz Air flight to Kutaisi). You can also find connections through Munich or Frankfurt. Upon arrival you will be picked up from the airport, train or bus station by one of our volunteers. Moreover you will be provided with our addresses, phone numbers etc. before travelling. Upon your departure, we will provide you with transportation to the airport, train or bus station. Reimbursement: During the project your accommodation, food and all the other project-related expenses is covered by European Commission Erasmus+ program. You will be reimbursed your travel costs from your home city to Tbilisi and back during or after the project, as soon as we receive all the originals of your travel documents from you by post. Reimbursement of travel costs will only be done upon presentation of all (including return tickets) original tickets, receipt/invoices and boarding passes. This means that once home after the training, you will be requested to send us the originals of all return documents and boarding passes.! Note: Please remember to bring the original invoice with you there will be no reimbursement without the original invoice.
