Advanced Leadership through Exploring Seattle In this course, students will have the opportunity to explore Seattle through visiting noteworthy youth leadership programs in our community. Students will learn more about our city and the people who have made a difference for the youth in the area. The course is designed to cultivate leadership skills and inspire young people to further reflect on how their influence can change the world around them. Basketball (Boys ) This is an opportunity for your child to receive instruction and have fun with the coaches and players of the tradition-rich Seattle Preparatory School basketball program. We believe it is a worthwhile experience for athletes of all skill levels. We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for basketball with you and your son and hope he connects early with the successes our program will continue to have in the future. Skills Emphasized: mechanics of shooting attacking with the dribble position passing perimeter play defensive fundamentals competitive games everyday! Basketball (Girls ) Come have fun and work on your game with the Seattle Prep Girls Basketball team! This is an opportunity for campers to receive instruction from the coaches, players and alumni of Seattle Prep. We all share a passion for basketball and we look forward to including your daughter as a member of our team. Go Panthers! Skills Emphasized: ball handling shooting form one-on-one moves footwork rebounding defensive principles - competitive games everyday! Cooking Around the World A week-long exploration of food for kids 6th 8th graders. Each day has campers hands-on executing the theme for that day culminating in a Chapped Challenge on the fifth and final day of camp. (Students will be divided into groups and with the chef s guidance, create a meal from scratch using a basket of secret ingredients, our extensive pantry, and the techniques they ve learned over the week of cooking together, with a three hour time limit to be as creative as they want to be.) Each day includes a full sit-down lunch and recipe packet at the end of each class. (Please alert us ahead of time if there are any food allergies). Doctor! Doctor! Medical Dissection Have you ever wanted to know what it is like to perform surgery? Are you interested in how your body works? Learn about the different body systems of animals and how they are like or unlike our own body systems. How does a cow eye compare to a human eye? How do exercise and posture impact blood pressure and heart rate? This exciting course will help foster an appreciation for science and human anatomy and physiology. It will include daily lab investigations using Vernier probes and other lab tools, X-ray analysis, use of anatomical dissection software and a cow eye dissection experience. Page 2

Draw, Paint, Create! Have you ever wanted to draw and paint realistically? This class will give you foundational skills to draw and paint the world as you see it. You will work from photographic imagery of your choosing and create the illusion of space, learn to mix and match color and create light and shadow. Football The Seattle Prep Football coaches will be hosting a football camp that is ideal for any aspiring football star. The camp will feature drill and technique work designed specifically for the young athlete to build a foundation that will lead to years of success on the gridiron. The camp features varsity coaches and players in a fast paced, fun and competitive structure that is tailored to any skill level. We will focus on the fundamental skills of stance, footwork, hand placement and angles for all positions. We will also cover position skills such as catching and throwing the ball, defensive reads and explosion and running back techniques. There is something for everyone. Fun with Graphic Design This class is an introduction to Graphic Design. Students will learn the basics of Adobe Photoshop to create unique logos and stickers that they design. The class will also introduce the students to color theory and the elements of design to make their work dynamic. This class will utilize many medias including digital design, illustration, painting, and drawing. Golf The goal for the golf camp is to help improve golfers knowledge of the golf swing, chipping, putting and sand shots through professional golf instruction from Teresa Caluori, LPGA Member. Lights, Camera, Action! Digital Video Production In this exciting, engaging, movie making class, students will be writing scripts and sketching story boards, as well as shooting and editing video. Participants will have access to state of the art software. Students should have a basic understanding of computers and should bring their own digital video camera (can include a camera phone). We have some equipment that can be borrowed. a musical review. The workshop is designed gives students a positive, practical and fun musical theater experience. The workshop is offered to rising 6-9 grade students and is taught by professional artists assisted by Seattle Prep drama students. Pop! Fizz! Chemical Reactions! This is the perfect introduction to chemical reactions for curious middle school students! Each day, students will learn about the chemical interactions of atoms and molecules using hands-on lab activities, group activities, and class discussions. All materials will be provided, but students should wear clothes that are appropriate for lab activities. Robotics - Designing Strong Mechanical Structures for VEX IQ Robots This hands-on engineering camp focuses on building structural sound mechanisms for competitive robotics. Students will learn the engineering process of rapid proto typing and documenting. Using the innovative VEX IQ construction systems, students will learn the concepts of designing and Page 3

constructing mechanisms using the least amount of parts, yet highly efficient at accomplishing various tasks on a robot. Students will be exposed to the challenge elements of the 2019-2020 VEX IQ season game and get firsthand knowledge on how to use gears and motors, lifting mechanisms, grabbing mechanisms and efficient fast maneuverable drive trains to prepare for the competitions. Note: while this class uses VEX IQ building system and the VEX IQ game no prior experience or participation in the upcoming season is expected Robotics Learning to program your VEX IQ Robot Have you ever wanted to learn how to program a smart robot to do tasks? Then this is a camp for you. Using various programing techniques together with the VEX IQ Robotics platform, learn how to build efficient robots to do automated tasks and teach robots to do what you want them to do. Students will have an opportunity to explore a variety of state of the art robotics topics from self-driving cars to humanoids. Note: Morning and afternoon sessions can be taken stand alone or as a full day session by signing up for both. Snapshot! Digital Photography A picture tells a thousand words, what story will your photos tell? Capture your world through the magic of digital imagery. This class is designed as in introduction for students to the world of digital photography. All students will work on a small portfolio of 10 photos exploring the techniques in photographing: action sequences, nature, portraits as well as conceptual photography. All students are asked to bring a digital camera (SLR preferred) as well as a thumb drive to class. All students will learn how light, contrast, composition and shutter speeds work together to produce vibrant digital images. Improve your picture taking skills and Photoshop editing techniques while creating a digital art masterpiece. Soccer Theme Park Come and experience the unique Soccer Theme Park that will not only enhance your physical skills but will also fine tune your cognitive decision making. Work your passes with our Soccer Wave, shoot and dribble through our soccer wall mannequins or test your shooting and control with our professional ball machine (as used by Bayern Munich!) The Soccer Theme Park Experience is a soccer camp with a difference, not only does it bring fun and exciting cutting-edge equipment to practice, but it is carefully crafted curriculum is delivered by a fully qualified and experienced coaching staff. Boys Program Head David R Smith holds both his UEFA A-License and USSF C-License while all his assistants are USSF licensed and experienced coaches. The goal of the program is to expose players to a challenging yet fun environment where they can transcend the monotony of basic cones and pennies and unleash their potential. The camp will focus on technical instruction as well as fun play to help nurture a desire for improvement and excellence. The camp is aimed at all levels of play. Volleyball The Seattle Prep Volleyball program is hosting a camp for beginners to advanced players. Players will be grouped by age and skill level and receive outstanding instruction in both individual and team skills. Students will receive personalized instruction from the Head Coach Marcene Sullivan, her assistant coaches, Page 4

and current varsity players. Skills Emphasized: Passing, Setting, Hitting, Blocking, Serving, Individual Defense, Team Defense, Offensive Systems, Team Competitions. Writer s Workshop Creative Writing Young authors will grow and practice their writing skills in this creative writing workshop. Students will use their life experiences, surroundings and imaginations to inspire their writing. In this workshop, students will experience different types of creative writing, collaborate with their peers, write and receive feedback. Join us this summer! Page 5
