St Catherine of Siena T: 9743 2166 E: principal@scmeltonwest.catholic.edu.au W: www.scmeltonwest.catholic.edu.au NEWSLETTER Term 3, Week 7 August 26th, 2014 Dear Families A Spirituality of Work Reflection A spirituality of work immerses me in the search for human community. I begin to see that everything I do, everything, has some effect on someone somewhere. I begin to see my life tied up in theirs. I begin to see that the starving starve because someone is not working hard enough to feed them. And so I do. It becomes obvious, then, that the poor are poor because someone is not intent on the just distribution of goods of the earth. And so I am. I begin to realize that work is the lifelong process of personal sanctification that is satisfied only for the globe. I finally come to know that my work is God's work, unfinished by God because God meant it to be finished by me. Sr Joan Chittister Last week was Book Week and what a great week it was. Children had the task of matching the covers of the teacher s favourite books to the teacher, we had Kym Lardner, a popular children s author here to talk to the children about how he generates ideas for his books, we voted on the book week finalists and finished the week with a fabulous parade of favourite characters. We had pirates, princesses, Harry Potter, wizards, mermaids, minions from Despicable Me, Jiminy Cricket, SpongeBob, Patrick, James Bond, Peppa Pig, Minecraft characters and so much more. The children all looked fantastic. A sincere thank you to all of the parents who assisted the children with their costumes and came to enjoy the parade. As you can see from the photos they all looked fantastic. Congratulations to Gracie O Neil(1st), Joshua Saliba(2nd) and Sienna Williams(3rd) who investigated all throughout the week to match the favourite book covers to the teachers. Well done to you all and thank you to everyone else who entered this competition. The Brimbank/Melton Local Learning Network is running a series of Growing Up Online sessions to raise the awareness of cyber safety. These sessions are in October, however places are limited and bookings are essential. Please see the information flyer attached to this newsletter for further details.
