From our Principal Dear Parents and Caregivers, Term Two has been a very busy yet productive term so it's not hard to believe it is term break again. The learning that I have seen in classrooms as I visit has been impressive and has incorporated photography, filmmaking and coding. As well as the learning that occurs in the classroom, the children have been provided with many extra curricula opportunities including excursions, carnivals and camp. Today, the students will be bringing home their reports for Semester One. The students are graded for both their achievement and effort. As all students do not learn at the same rate, the effort grade is very important. This is the grade that shows the commitment students have to their learning. Early in Term Three, teachers will be offering parent/teacher/students conversations. These are optional and are for parents who have concerns they would like to raise with the teacher in regards to their child's learning or equally the conversations may be initiated by the teacher if they have concerns. If you wish to meet with the teacher earlier than this, please make an appointment with them. Reading the reports helped me to know each student better as a learner. I discovered various strengths and gifts that each student shared. There was one very large concern that was also revealed. There were many students who were late to school a large number of times over the semester. Whilst being late may not seem important, over time each minute adds up. I encourage each family to make an effort in the new term to ensure that students arrive before the bell at 8:50am. This term, newsletters have been written fortnightly. This will continue into the next semester. Please note that in Term Three, newsletters will be going home in electronic form only. They will be posted on the school webpage, Facebook page and on skoolbag. If you do not have a smart phone, tablet or computer and wish for a hard copy, you may get one from the front office where a few paper copies will be available. Classrooms will also display a hard copy of the newsletter in their window. This decision has been made to ensure that we are being responsible citizens and caring for our environment. We have been trying to use skoolbag as our main form of communication and have endeavoured for information to be sent out in a timely manner. When a text message is sent out as a notification, there is a way of changing the text into another language. This is particularly helpful for parents/caregivers who have English as a second language. If you are not sure how to change the language, please feel free to visit the front office where this will be explained to you. Last Friday, our hard working and dedicated Parents and Friends organised a School Disco for all the students. This was a fantastic evening where all students had a great time. I would like to express my gratitude to Nicole Davis and her wonderful committee for their time, energy and commitment to providing this opportunity for the children. I would also like to thank all the staff who happily gave up their Friday night to support the students. As many parents like to stay whilst the disco is on, Ellen Harvey, a student Social Worker on placement at St Patrick's, organised a showcase of local services for parents to visit. This was most impressive and hopefully of benefit to parents. We thank her for the professional manner in which this showcase was presented. I wish all families a safe and happy term break. I hope as parents that you can find some time away from your busy schedule to spend some time enjoying the company of your child(ren). School resumes on Monday 23 rd July. In all things love, Barbara Ahern

From our aprim Over the past two weeks, our students in the sacramental program have received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist. They are now fully initiated members of the Catholic Church and will continue to be supported to live Jesus example of love in their lives. Congratulations to Katrina, Francine, Quan, Nathaniel, Harry, Zandy, Ivana, Helena, Aaron and Cassie and God bless you for your journey. NAIDOC Week NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920 s, which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. Under the theme - Because of Her, We Can! - NAIDOC Week 2018 will be held nationally from Sunday 8 July and continue through to Sunday 15 July. As pillars of our society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played and continue to play - active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels. We recognise the important role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women play in society, in their families and in their culture, now and in the past, and celebrate their strength, their stories and their determination to make a difference for all Indigenous Australians. Wishing you all a safe and happy holiday. May the break give you the opportunity to relax, sleep in and enjoy each other. God bless Anne-Marie Platten P & F News On Friday Night was the Annual School Disco! Again we had children turn out in their numbers, with close to 200 students attending. This year our student voice group came up with lots of ideas and it was great to have children's input. Jesse Ligorio was our DJ for the night & did fantastic job of music & lighting. A BIG thankyou to the parents of the P & F including Brad, Rose, Grace, Mimma, Katherine, Gulnaz, Gayathri, Andrew, Huyen who spent all of Friday morning blowing up balloons, helping to get children through the door quickly, handing out lollies & drinks, cleaning up, preparing tables and list goes on & on. Without this dedicated team we could not organise such wonderful events, I am so lucky to have their support, feedback & attendance at our meetings. We hope everyone enjoyed the night, just as we all did organising it. Congratulations to all our dance prize winners - excellent effort! Behind the scenes P & F are always so lucky to have Mandy & the office staff taking care of ticket sales & class lists, Anne- Marie, Barbara & all the teachers who gave up their time to be at the disco and help it all run smoothly. One last thankyou & goodbye to Ellen who created our posters/tickets, helped out with breakfast each Friday, it has been great working alongside her the last couple of weeks & we wish her all the very best. Meeting date Tuesday 7th August Happy Holidays & see you all in Term 3 Nicole Davis, Parents & Friends

On Wednesday June 20th we took 28 students to SANTOS stadium to compete in the Section 5, Catholic Athletics Carnival. With training under our belt and our earlier experience at the Port District Athletics Carnival, we had a quiet confidence about our team. Overall results Boys finished 2nd. Girls finished 8th. Ager group awards Senior boys won age champion school. Unfortunately due to female absentees and injuries our remaining female participants had to step up to cover the gap that their peers left. They dug deep and participated in as many events as they possibly could during the day. Congratulations on their amazing effort.

Xin chúc quý vị một mùa nghỉ an bình. Anne- Marie Platten
