MG CONNECTION EASTERN WASHINGTON, NORTHWEST IDAHO The President s Message By Bob Hughes I m glad to see that the November tech session put on by Don Clutter was so well attended. He covered several items that one should address when storing a car for an extended period of time. Written notes were also provided which will help to remind one of what needs to be done when you get to it. Thanks Don, well done. Also thanks out to Charlie and Juanell Brennan for providing a warm shop with plenty of eye candy for this venue. Attention! If you re planning on going to the Christmas party on December 7 th, please make your reservation with Charlie Brennan, as the time is getting shorter, and shorter. Also if you have anything for the silent auction, contact Thad Hopper or Lynn Meyers to arrange a drop-off or pick-up of your items. All proceeds go towards making your club stronger, and helps offset the costs of some events. It s with a heavy heart I found that two of our past members have passed away. Both had been long time members of the club, but, due to health issues, were not in attendance for several years. The first is Shirley Shaw, wife of Will Shaw, who had passed away several years ago. She was the care taker of the MGTC that Wyatt and Terry Luce have. Shirley also had a very nice MGTD that she learned to drive in, and passed along to her daughter, Carrie Kenyon. The other member was Bill Walker. He was past president of the club many years ago. He had an MG TC and an MGA. He had not been in the club for many years, as he wanted to capitalize on doing things with his boys. He is survived by his sons, and his wife Bev. Our best wishes go out to their families during this time of grief. Bob PAGE 1

If you have any items you d like to donate for the silent auction at the Christmas party, please contact Lynn Meyers at 509-290-1620 or meyersl@me.com, or Thad Hopper at hopper4363@comcast.net to arrange a drop-off or pick-up of the items. LAST CHANCE REMINDER Don t forget to make your reservations for the Christmas Banquet scheduled for December 7th at the Spokane Valley Event Center. The cost is $28 per person. Please send your check to Charles Brennan at 16139 N Day-Mt Spokane Rd, Mead WA 99021. Your RSVP and checks must be received by December 1st. That is when the final tally will be forwarded to the caterers. Any reservations received after December 1st will incur an additional cost on top of the $28 per person. Please allow enough time for your check to travel through the mail so that it gets to Charles by December 1st. Don t Delay!! * * See next page for maps and directions for getting to the Spokane Event Center. * * PAGE 2

From I-90, take the Argonne Exit and head south. Turn left on E Appleway Blvd. Head east for approximately 0.8 mile. Event Center is on the left. Access via last street before University Road (just after all the U-Haul vans). If you hit University Road, you ve gone too far! Spokane Valley Event Center PAGE 3

* * * Tech Session * * * As Bob mentioned in his President s message, the tech session at the Brennan s was a success all the way around. After the tech session was over, we had the opportunity to check out the progress Charles is making on his Magnette. He is clearly in the home-stretch, or at least the light at the end of the tunnel is shining bright! The car is absolutely beautiful, with many modern-day conveniences added, including the very cool headlights with integral yellow/orange LED daytime running lights. I wouldn t be surprised if we saw more of these type of headlights popping up on other club member s cars! Here s some photos of the tech session and Charlie s car... PAGE 4

Mark Elmore s Mileage Contest for 2019 Okay boys and girls here goes. I am setting up a long distance mileage award for 2019. The rules are going to be relatively simple or as simple as I can make them. 1. The contest will run from the first of the year to the last. The beginning to the end or the 1 st of Jan to the 31 st of Dec. 2. The goal is to accumulate the most mileage on a car. That is one car, not several cars. 3. You may, however, enter several cars individually. 4. It has to be a British car because amazingly enough we are a British car club. 5. To validate the mileage you will take a picture of the odometer and the car to be entered. You may take as many pictures as necessary to accomplish that fact. 6. You can email me the photographs or give them to me no later than the Chili Feed in January to enter. Might also enclose your name with them because I might not recognize the car. 7. At the end of the year, you will take another photograph of the odometer and car (enclose name once again for the judge s sake, thank you). 8. At this point I should tell you that you do have to send them (the pictures not the cars) to me. 9. With the help of my pit crew (Willie and Melvin) and calculator, the award will be announced in January at the club breakfast/meeting. 10.The final arbiter of rules will be your duly railroaded vice-president. That s me with the help of the railroader that s my wife. I will have the entire year to come up with a suitable and impressive award that will be suitable for hanging on a wall in your abode in a place of prominence. Because my wife doesn t know that I have signed us for several events throughout the great continental US, I am going to declare myself ineligible for the award at this time. Also to avoid any appearance of conflict or impropriety. So she is going to be really happy or I m going to be in really big trouble. Mark Elmore PAGE 7
