KINDERGARTEN MOUNTAIN HOME SCHOOL DISTRICT NO.193 EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM 2018-2019 ELEMENTARY Our Kindergarten program is based on an academic philosophy, which provides a varied background of experience on which to build Language Arts skills. Students are provided with experiences, which integrate all academic areas and promote social development. GRADES 1-4 The educational program for elementary students, grades one through four, will be as follows, including the minimum amount of instruction time per week: SUBJECT AREA GRADES 1-3 GRADE 4 Arithmetic (Elementary Math) 300-450 300-450 Fine Arts (Art and Music) 30-60 30-60 Health 30-60 30-60 (Health Instruction, Safety, Physical Fitness)* Language Arts 600-900 600-750 (Reading, Workshop, Intervention, Listening, Speaking, Literature, Spelling, Composition, Handwriting) Social Studies ** 75-150 Science ** 75-150 *Health instruction shared by classroom teachers, and Physical Education instructors. **Health, Social Studies, and Science are integrated into the Language Arts curriculum. ***PE and Music vary depending on the quarter schedule. They get 30-60 minutes per week.
