Hw des a functin s rat f change determine characteristics that uniquely define the functin? Why are zers, where f(x) = 0, key pints in the patters f functins? Hw des the structure f a functin s graph and equatin give insights int its zers? Which mdels best help analyze a situatin? Hw d we assess the effectiveness f a mdel? Students will meet the bjectives listed abve thrugh a cmbinatin f the fllwing: Attend all scheduled classes Cmplete all assignments with hnesty and effrt Participate penly in the curse cntent

Part 4: Grading Plicy Graded Curse Activities All assignments have the ptential t have pints awarded and recrded fr the verall grade. Typical types f assignments are classwrk, hmewrk, pp-quizzes, quizzes, labs, tests, and prjects. The pints awarded will weight the assignment grade. Fr example, if a single hmewrk is wrth 5 pints, a test may be wrth 50 pints. Late Wrk Plicy Be sure t please pay clse attentin t deadlines. There is little acceptable discussin t make up assignments, quizzes, r late wrk withut sme frm f prir ntificatin (ntificatin n the assignment due date is nt prir) r a serius and cmpelling reasn and apprval. Viewing Grades Using the current schl system we cannt push individual grade reprts ut thrugh the prtal. Grades are available upn student request and assignment reprts are frequently printed and distributed in class. Final Senirs: Students may be exempt frm the Senir Final in Math 442 by either maintaining the achieved letter grade f the first semester in the secnd semester (B- r abve) r by achieving a higher letter grade in the secnd semester cmpared t the first semester (C+ thrugh C-). The final in Math 442 is wrth 15% f the verall curse grade if it were t decrease the average r 20% if it were t increase the average. Junirs: All junirs will take the Math 442 Final. The final in Math 442 is wrth 15% f the verall curse grade if it were t decrease the average r 20% if it were t increase the average. Letter Grade Assignment Final grades assigned fr this curse will be based n the percentage f ttal pints earned and are assigned as fllws: Letter Grade Min Percentage Prgress Level A+ 97% A 93% Exceeding A- 90% B+ 87% B 83% Meeting B- 80% C+ 77% C 73% In Prgress C- 70% D+ 67% Limited Prgress D 65% F <65% Nt Yet in Prgress

Part 5: Curse Plicies Attend Class Students are expected t attend all class sessins. Necessary absences and the lss f seat-time can be assisted thrugh email cntact and by checking ut curse cntent via Ggle Classrm. Participate Ask questins. Be curius. Students will have mments t questin and cmment n cntent in class, but als utside f class using the Ggle Classrm platfrm. Thughts, questins, and cnjectures prvide the discurse t establish reasning. Build Rapprt If yu find that yu have any truble keeping up with assignments r ther aspects f the curse, make sure yu let me knw as early as pssible. As yu will find, building rapprt and effective relatinships with yur peers and teachers are key t becming an effective student. Make sure that yu are practive in infrming me (r any f the schl supprt team) when difficulties arise during the semester s that we can help yu find a slutin. Cmplete Assignments Sme assignments fr this curse may require an nline submissin. Fr example, if we have an nline hmewrk assignment, the nline submissins are date-time stamped and will autmatically be marked as late past the given due date. Assignments must be submitted by the given deadline r special permissin must be requested frm me befre the due date. Late r missing assignments will affect the student s grade. Cmmit t Integrity As a student in this curse yu are expected t maintain high degrees f academic integrity, cmmitment t active learning, participatin in this class, and als integrity in yur behavir in and ut f the classrm.
