Boys Day Out

Principal s Report Dear Parents and Carers, It has been another busy week here at MPS. The week started with our Kindergarten students attending the Oakvale Farm Excursion on Tuesday. They all had a wonderful time and the teachers were very proud of our students. Thank you to the teachers and parents who organised and attended the excursion. Our school photos were on Wednesday and they went smoothly. It was lovely to see our students dressed in their finest and our staff looked great in their black and white for the staff photo. MPS photography have been taking our school photos for many years and they continually say how well -behaved and photogenic our students are. Apparently we are one good looking school! As it was Father s Day last weekend, all students need to be wearing a hat in the playground now. Our school rule is No hat, play under the COLA. Please ensure your child has a school hat everyday for the remainder of the school year. This is also important during PE and Sport and especially for those students walking to the pool for swimming next term. I am very excited to announce that the first stage of our playground equipment will be installed during the school holidays. It will include a climbing dome with soft fall and a fitness track in the Corral. We are also sourcing some truck and tractor tyres to fill with sand and put under the trees in the corral for students to play in. Mr Wayne Beal has been employed to clean up our gardens in McKenzie area, assisting Mr Berry. The area is looking very tidy and Mrs Helen Dunlop will be working with us after the holidays to improve this area. Our Stage 3 boys have enjoyed their special day today called Boys Big Day Out. Many thanks to Mr Davis for organising and to Matt Sharman from the ARL, gentlemen from the Men s Shed and Mr Kirkwood from Kirkwood s Karate. The boys have really enjoyed their day and had some great experiences. Next Friday is the Girls Big Day Out for Stage 3 girls and Miss Hicks and Mrs Mac- Pherson have organised another great day. Our students in Years 4 6 have been participating in the second Tell Them From Me survey this week and next and we will share with you the results when they are published. Enjoy this weekend and the wonderful weather Spring is putting on for us! Warm regards, Alison Coombs Relieving Principal Term Three, Week Eight Friday, September 8

Band News

Band News School Swimming and Water Safety Program School Swimming and Water Safety Program Notes have been sent home to students in 3-6H and Year 2 to be a part of the School Swimming and Water Safety Program. It takes place in Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 4 (9 th 20 th October). The program will be run by qualified AUSTSWIM instructors at Maitland Park pool. Teachers from our school will walk students to and from the pool and assist with lessons when needed. The cost to participate in the program is pool entry only for the ten days. Students who have a seasonal pool pass can bring this every day and do not need to pay pool entry. The instructors are paid for by the Department of Education. The program is available to all students in Year 2 and class 3-6H and caters for all swimming ability levels but is particularly important for those students who cannot safely swim 25 metres in deep water unassisted. Permission notes and payment of $35 need to be returned to the office by Friday 15 th September, 2017 (Week 9, Term 3). What a great opportunity to prepare your children for summer!
