Discover your hidden treasures September 8, 2016 Ms. Wahlstrom says As parents, we have so many hopes for our kids. We want them to grow up to live happy, successful lives. Even with all these hopes and dreams, we know the center of all these wishes is the hope that our kid turns into a decent human being -- someone who is kind, respectful, and honest. We know our kids learn things by following our examples and through experiences from school and in their communities. We also have to deal with influences from media movies, TV shows, books, video games and social media all huge players in our kids lives. The following are suggestions of ways your kids can learn important lessons about character through this influx of media we deal with on a daily basis: Watch Sports not only a fun way to bond over a team or a player, but also time to point out character strengths from teamwork to perseverance Share Social Media opportunities are tremendous to point out character share a beautiful video or post, talk about what it took to share these images or comments and even discuss possibilities of criticisms that might arise Play video games together choose multi-player games, talk about teamwork and goal setting as well as being respectful to one another during competition Take time out sometimes it s good to step away from social media, take time out, don t always rush to answer that text or email it can wait talk face to face with your children about what is going on in their lives Reference: Common Sense Media KC PTO POOL PARTY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16th 6PM-10PM $10 Admission per family (includes hamburger, chips, & drink) ALL SPX FAMILIES INVITED Address: 10110 Shoreview Rd, Dallas, TX Attention: Oktoberfest has been cancelled for this year.
