Candidates, who are to appear in Exam are required to report at 10.00 a.m. on Exam date. The exam will be of two hours duration. The exam will test candidates on research aptitude and knowledge in the relevant discipline. The candidates, who are eligible to appear directly in the Interviews, are to report at 1.00 p.m. for document verification & subsequent Interviews. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the Ph.D programme at is to enable students to engage in advanced study, original and independent research in their areas of specialization & the application of their scientific knowledge to the solution of technical & scientific problems. The programs have been designed to impart knowledge, strengthen concepts and intellectual skills through course work, seminars and project/ dissertation work. The PhD programs at intend to prepare students to take their professions with a perspective and breadth of knowledge related to the principal divisions of their respective fields of specialization through courses and research experience. This brochure provides general information sought by those seeking admission at in PhD programs. For rules pertaining to any particular issue, decision of the competent authority would be applicable. 2. ADMISSION ELIGIBILITY All candidates seeking admission to the PhD program shall have to possess requisite marks/grades in qualifying examination as indicated below: Masters degree in Engineering/Technology/Science/Business Administration with a first class or a minimum 60 % marks (CGPA 6.5 on a 10 point scale) or equivalent such as M.Sc. (Engineering) / M.S. by research Masters degree with a minimum 60 % in Humanities /Social Sciences/Language/other Nonengineering programmes are also eligible. 3. ADMISSION CRITERIA Admission shall be based on: a) Satisfying the requirements of minimum qualifications as laid down in clause 2. b) Performance in Interview for those who have qualified in UGC NET/CSIR (JRF) Examination / SLET / GATE / Teacher Fellowship holder or M.Phil.
c) Performance in i) PhD Written Exam to be conducted by for all those who are not qualified in any of the examinations mentioned in 3(b) and ii) Subsequent Interview by the panel including Departmental Research Committee (DRC) members and other professors/experts appointed by the Dean of the concerned school. d) Candidates are required to propose and discuss their research interests and research hypothesis at the time of Interview. e) The University reserves the right to limit the number of scholars to be admitted to the University at any time. This decision would be guided by the available resources and other facilities. f) The names of the selected candidates will be displayed on the website.. g) The selected students shall be allowed provisional registration after he/she has paid the fees prescribed by the University. 4. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Application form may be filled online at www.galgotiasuniversity.edu.in. A downloaded hardcopy of the same should be sent to the Registrar,, Plot No 2, Sector 17 A, Yamuna Expressway, Gautam Buddh Nagar, 203201 Uttar Pradesh along with a demand draft of Rs 1100/ drawn in favor of '' payable at Greater Noida/Noida. Application form may also be obtained from the office of Admissions,, Uttar Pradesh against a demand draft/cash deposit on every working day. 5. CATEGORY OF STUDENTS The students can be registered as Full Time or on Part Time basis I. A Full Time scholar has to attend the university regularly and will be subject to the prescribed attendance rules of the University. II. Professionally employed personnel such as working engineers, scientists and teachers may be allowed to pursue Ph.D. on part time basis. Such candidates are required to submit a No Objection Certificate from their parent organization/department/employer stating that he/she is permitted to pursue studies on a part time basis and that his/her duties permit him/her to devote sufficient time for research. Part time studies leading to Ph.D. may also be permitted to persons working in universities/ research centers with which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for research purposes. Part Time students will have to attend the classes for assigned course work as per the rules of University.
6. MINIMUM & MAXIMUM PERIOD OF REGISTRATION The minimum period of registration for a full time research student for submitting his/her dissertation is two years from the date of permanent registration. The minimum period is three years for candidates pursuing the degree as a part time scholar. A full time Ph.D. student/candidate may be permitted to submit his/her dissertation within a maximum period of 5 years from the date of permanent registration and for a part time scholar, this maximum period is 6 years. 7. FEE: Tuition Fee : Rs. 50000.000 per annum Examination Fee : Rs. 10000.00 per annum 8. REFUND OF FEE No Fee shall be refunded, after commencement of the session. 8. All students will be subject to the provisions of, Uttar Pradesh Act. 14 of 2011, Statutes, ordinances & Regulations (as amended from time to time). 9.
