Oxford Executive Degree s Developing your talent

Introduction to Executive Education at Oxford Saïd The challenges facing business today are irreducibly global, complex, and connected. They call for a different type of leadership, one in which the creation of a single, unifying vision is replaced by flexibility and responsiveness. Executive Education at Oxford Saïd has been designed to equip students with the skills needed to deal with these new leadership challenges. Oxford has always been a community of global scholars and a crucible for ideas which have changed the world. Saïd Business School is part of this endeavour and is focused on creating programmes and supporting leaders to deliver global impact. We are a vibrant and innovative business school, but yet deeply embedded in an 800-year-old world-class university. Our executive degree and diploma programmes allow senior leaders to realise the benefits of studying at Oxford, while allowing them to meet the professional commitments of their organisations. Through programmes such as the Executive MBA and the four strategic postgraduate diplomas, students gain a solid base of technical knowledge, taught by world-leading experts, and informed by rigorous academic research. Supporting the development of your high-potential employees is an important commitment: but one that can reap significant reward to the individual and to your organisation. Our part-time modular programmes are designed to ensure participants can deliver immediate impact and tailor the content around your organisation s needs. Sponsorship of your employees can include anything from supporting the time commitment to providing tuition funding. Each organisation has the flexibility to decide on the most appropriate support for their colleagues. If you have identified senior individuals within your organisation who you feel would benefit from an Oxford Saïd education we welcome your introduction and look forward to helping them achieve real impact for themselves and your organisation. Flexibility study alongside employment All participants continue to be employed full-time by their sponsoring companies. The modular structure of each programme enables participants to integrate study into their working lives. This can help your organisation to achieve sustainable results and broaden the commercial outlook in changing environments. Enhance global understanding We work hard to ensure that each cohort is truly diverse. This exposure to different ways of thinking helps to broaden the perspectives and skillsets of participants and develops their understanding of conducting business in a global landscape. Access an international network All participants will form a strong network with their cohort, and also become part of the wider Oxford community. Participants will therefore have access to a wealth of top contacts around the world and from a wide variety of backgrounds which, invariably alumni use to the benefit of their organisations. Transport and Infrastructure Organisation EMBA student, VP, Business Development Every paper I wrote on the programme was connected to my work in some way. The more progress I made through the programme, the more I was able to fine tune my business development plan. I ended up with a project that not only satisfied my boss, but, when we took it to the board of directors and presented it, they unanimously endorsed the idea at the first draft and committed over ten million dollars of funding. There s no question that the Oxford Executive MBA at the Saïd Business School was a win-win experience; extremely valuable, both for me, and for my employer. International Consumer Group EMBA student, European Marketing Manager The benefits of the programme have been immediate and significant. I m able to apply learning directly to my day-to-day tasks, providing deeper analysis, stronger justifications for my recommendations and identifying value-driving opportunities. The programme has also given me the confidence to take on new projects that previously would have been out of my comfort zone - I ve never seen myself as a numbers person, yet I ve been excited to dive in to analytical projects. It s also made me a better leader and manager, forcing me to prioritize my time on key value drivers while providing me with insight on how to be a better delegator. International Energy Company EMBA student, Senior Commercial Advisor I believe that undertaking an MBA makes me a better commercial negotiator and gives me the skills and knowledge needed to provide a greater level of value-add to my organisation. Studying externally allows me to bring in new ideas, up to date business theories and practices to the organisation to grow and enhance the team and organisation. Technology and Software Company Diploma Student, Area Director, Australia and New Zealand My hope was that the Diploma in and Innovation would give some theoretical grounding to the real world corporate experience I had already gained in my career. I am thrilled that the 12 months offered so much more than that. The course drew out an underlying passion I had for strategic and innovative thinking and focused my managerial approach around bigger picture, more long-term thinking. This process has enriched my working life and led to tangible short-term results in my business as we re structured to increase our growth trajectory. Sponsor, President and CEO As a result of his presentation, the Board of Directors unanimously approved the plan and has allocated 10 million dollars to the first phase. I have followed our colleague s development and would like to express my appreciation and satisfaction for the Oxford Executive MBA. Sponsor, Regional VP, Europe As our organisation continues to expand domestically and internationally in a fast paced and competitive environment, we need strong managers with a mix of hands-on experience, broad management skills and solid international business knowledge. We have been pleased to see how the Oxford Executive MBA has brought new analytical skills to our colleague s client presentations and recommendations. We look forward to seeing how the programme will continue to build on his strong background to lead our teams and key aspects of our global brand and international business expansion. Sponsor, Senior Director The EMBA at Oxford was identified as offering the right blend of business learning objectives to support the personal growth and continued impact of our colleague to the business. We felt it complemented the further development opportunities we were placing in front of him within the organisation. The chance to cross-learn with other experienced and high-potential individuals, from other sectors, offers a rich and diverse learning experience. Sponsor, CEO Oxford s Diploma programmes have for many years been an invaluable complement to the internal, on-the-job training experienced by our high-potential leadership talent. These unique programmes are academically rigorous, and the participants are seasoned professionals that are diverse with respect to geography and industry experience. 4 EXECUTIVE DEGREE PROGRAMMES WWW.SBS.OXFORD.EDU +44 (0)1865 288444 5

Content How you can support your top talent Awareness. Some of your employees may be looking for development opportunities, so highlighting the availability and benefits of the executive degree programmes through your learning and development channels could assist them in identifying relevant training. Time to study. Our programmes are largely taught in Oxford, which allows participants to fully immerse themselves in the topics studied and build close relationships with their class. Many companies choose to support their students by allowing them this time to study as part of their working hours; other organisations grant this time as unpaid leave. Financial support. Many organisations choose to provide financial support for their employees towards the programme fees and/or travel and accommodation costs for attending the programme. Work-related training. Some employers provide a work-related training scheme which allows them to help their employees with the costs of the programme in a way which aids employee retention and with financial advantages for both the employer and the employee. Your Organisational Development team will be able to advise on arrangements that are available. For organisations interested in getting more deeply involved in the business school: Partner with us.
