PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The pledge of allegiance was led by members of the Hill Elementary Safety Patrol and their Advisor/Co-Head Teachers Linda Strine and Lisa DuPrey. ROLL CALL: Kathy LaFeldt read the roll. Members present: Karen Conover, Lawrence Finkbeiner, Dale Green, Andrew Hall, Kim Lindsay, Mark McGlashen, and Kathleen Sudia. Student members present: Amanda George and Ryan Myers. High school student board representatives were welcomed. APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Moved by Karen Conover, supported by Mark McGlashen, to approve the agenda as presented. The motion was carried with a vote of 7-yes, 0- no. APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA: Moved by Kim Lindsay, supported by Andrew Hall, to approve the consent agenda included items 1-5 below: 1. Approval of Minutes: Approval of the open session minutes for the previous regular meeting of August 10, 2015. Approval of the minutes for committee meetings held since August 10, 2015. 2. Presentation of Bills for Payment: Approval of payment of bills through August 31: AP-Pooled Cash: General Fund, DCER Fund, DTV Fund, Food Service Fund, and Student Activity Fund $ 1,535,655.77 3. Treasurer s Report: Approval of Treasurer s Report for the month of August. 4. Monthly Personnel Report: Approval of personnel activity for the period of August 5, 2015 through September 9, 2015. 5. Approval of Policy Revision for the Second Reading and Adoption: Policy Title 5517.10 Bullying and Other Aggressive Behavior Toward Students 2

COMMUNICATIONS: Special Presentations: Assistant Superintendent Kevin Brown introduced and welcomed the following new teachers to the district and gave each an opportunity to introduce themselves to the Board: Andrea Bell GSRP GSRP Andrew Criswell Siple Elementary Kindergarten Tammara Fellows Hahn Intermediate 5 th Grade Bradrick Fuson Gates Elementary 4 th Grade Sara Howes Thomson Elementary Developmental K Heather Kecskes Middle School 8 th Grade Science Andrea McDunnah Central Elementary 1 st Grade CAP Jacqueline Przybylski Central Elementary 2 nd Grade Alexis Schaepkens Hill Elementary 2 nd Grade Raven Springsteen Alternative Education English/Social Studies Ryan Suchy High School SPED (ELA) Douglas Wilson High School SPED (Math) From the Public: Visitors were welcomed and invited to address the Board. There was no response from the public. Correspondence: There was no correspondence to be read. ACTION ITEMS: GRADUATION CEREMONY DATES AND TIMES: The administrative staff proposed that Davison Alternative Education graduation be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, 7:00 pm, in the Ude Auditorium and that the Davison High School graduation be held Monday, June 6, 2016, 7:00 pm, at Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center (formerly known as Perani Arena and Event Center). Moved by Karen Conover, supported by Larry Finkbeiner, to approve the dates and locations for graduation as recommended. In addition, Karen Conover, Larry Finkbeiner, and Andrew Hall volunteered to confer diplomas at the Davison Alternative Education ceremony. All Board members participate in the Davison High School graduation ceremony. APPROVAL OF MERIT PAY FOR TEACHERS: Michigan Revised School Code 380.125 requires school districts to establish a method of compensating its administrators and teachers based on performance. This year it has been determined that merit pay for teachers will be paid in an-off scale payment of $200.00 per teacher with an effective or highly effective evaluation rating. Moved by Kim Lindsay, supported by Mark McGlashen, to approve the merit pay for teachers. There was discussion. 3

The motion was carried with a vote of 6-yes, 0-no, 1- abstained by Board Vice President Dale Green due to conflict of interest. APPROVAL OF MERIT PAY FOR ADMINISTRATORS: Michigan Revised School Code 380.1250 requires school districts to establish a method of compensating its administrators and teachers based on performance. This year it has been determined that merit pay for administrators will be paid in an-off scale payment of $300.00 per administrator with an effective or highly effective evaluation rating. Moved by Karen Conover, supported by Larry Finkbeiner, to approve the merit pay for administrators. APPROVAL OF ONE-TIME OFF-SCALE PAYMENT TO HOURLY EMPLOYEES: To keep with the spirit of encouraging high performance from all Davison Community Schools employees, it has been determined to offer a one-time off-scale payment to all regular hourly employees (full/part time) of $100.00. Moved by Kim Lindsay, supported by Andrew Hall, to approve the one-time off-scale payment to all regular hourly employees. There was discussion. APPOINTMENT OF ADVISORY MEMBER TO DAVISON COMMUNITY ENRICHMENT AND RECREATION. Each year Davison Township, the City of Davison, and Davison Community Schools are asked to appoint a representative to the Davison Community Enrichment and Recreation program advisory board. Moved by Mark McGlashen, supported by Dale Green, to appoint Skip Konkle to serve as the representative for the 2015/2016 school year. There was discussion. The motion was carried with a vote of 7-yes, 0-no. ACCEPTANCE OF CONTRIBUTIONS: Moved by Karen Conover, supported by Dale Green, to gratefully accept the following contributions and to direct the superintendent to express the Board s gratitude in writing: Davison resident, Ms. Angela Trembley, donated a printer to the Technology Department for use as needed throughout the district. Craig Gutzeit of Craig Alan Residential donated $25 to the Athletic Department for the Davison Varsity Dance Team. The team will use the funds to purchase supplies and equipment. The Davison Optimists donated 80 backpacks filled with an assortment of school supplies. The backpacks are provided to students in our district who are in need. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS: From our Superintendent: Superintendent Lieske shared information regarding the first week of school. 4

The preliminary student enrollment numbers collected during the first week of school indicate the district s enrollment continues to be stable with the potential for a slight increase. Next month s Board of Education meeting agenda will be offered online through Blackboard. Davison Middle School Assistant Principal Josie Paquette has offered to provide any need for training or assistance in October. The Davison High School Homecoming parade and football game will take place on Friday, September 25. All board members are encouraged to participate in the parade. From our Student Representatives: Ryan Myers and Samantha Hunsinger reported on events of interest and opportunities at Davison High School. Other Matters Which May Properly Come Before the Board (From Board members): There were no comments from the Board of Education.
