The MTEI program takes an interdisciplinary approach to teaching by synthesizing graduate Sobey School Business entrepreneurship and innovation curriculum with applied practices from the technology business community creating a progressive and unique integrated learning environment. Out of the program emerge business leaders with the skills to create innovative new products and the knowledge and ability to launch, and sustain, businesses from the ground up. Program Structure After 8 months of Friday and Saturday classes, students have three possible options: (students indicate their option of choice after the program begins and are selected based on merit) Choose an applied project to start a business or do an innovation project and complete degree in 12 or 16 months. Enter or return to industry for an 8-month internship. Or, choose to research and write a thesis. Career Preparation As a Master of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation (MTEI) student, you will have access to comprehensive career services provided by the Graduate Career Services (GCS) team. Each year, GCS facilitates Corporate Tours within start-up communities for students to attend. These tours serve as opportunities to connect with innovative business owners and begin the discussion around the potential for start-up success. Additionally, students are also encouraged to participate in one-on-one job coaching with trained employment specialists who offer insight into your unique value proposition and guide the steps that are required for your own career path. Individuals who utilize the professional development initiatives provided by GCS are able to develop a clear focus on their career goals and an overall understanding of what steps are required as they move forward. Of our graduates, 90% have obtained work in their chosen field within a six-month period following graduation. A Master of Technology Entrepreneurship and Innovation will give you access to a wide variety of careers such as work in the start-up community, banking, multinational organizations, or propel you to starting your own innovative business. The Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary s University was established in 1934. In addition, there are over 40 active student societies on campus which students are invited to participate in such as Net Impact, Speak Up Society, MBA Society, Graduate Student Society, and the Investment Society. Admission Requirements A university degree, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0/4.0 in the final sixty (60) credit hours, preferably in Science, Technology, or Engineering. Applicants must also have a readiness to participate in an interview in-person, by telephone or online. Students whose native language is not English must submit a TOEFL ibt or IELTS score. A score of at least 92 on the internet-based TOEFL ibt is required. An IELTS score of at least 7 is required and scores must be less than two years old.
