High School STUCO STUCO representatives Raina Meyer and Katelyn Zeller shared at their annual retreat they have begun planning for 2016-17 and discussed possible themes for Homecoming. Sincerely, Woodland Park School District Re-2 Board of Education Highlights of High School Activities & Athletics High School Activities Director Michael DeWall shared spring sports are complete except Track. High School Athletics Baseball Finished regular season at 12-7 and finished third in CSML and did not qualify for post season Girls Soccer Finished regular season at 4-11 and finished fourth in CSML. Track & Field League Meet Thursday and Saturday with State the following weekend. AAA Assembly Recognized student achievement in all sports and many activities including our 12 sport athletes - Zach Hess and Dalton LaFever; our Rotary Champion nominees and Male and Female Athletes of the Year - Chrissy Cunningham and Skye Ciccarelli. High School Activities Band Band held their Senior concert last night. Congratulations to our choir students who participated in CHSAA Large Group Festival last week.
Women's Glee received overall Excellent ratings. Men's Ensemble, Ladies Select and Madrigals received all Superior ratings. Student Talent Showcase High School Forensics Coach Bill Brown shared Senior Lauren Mitchell and Junior Sage Brown will be representing WPHS at Nationals this year in Salt Lake City, Utah. Senior Alex Vela and Junior Amanda Roth are first alternates in their categories and are waiting to see if they get to participate. Ms. Mitchell shared she is a World Debater and shared some of the topics she will be debating. Ms. Brown performed her Dramatic Interpretation. Board President Carol Greenstreet thanked them for the wonderful information, great performance, and wished them both the best of luck at Nationals!.
Secondary Update Director of Secondary Schools Tina Cassens shared the middle school assistant principal interviews have been conducted; 8th Grade Recognition is next Tuesday; 6th and 7th grade students will work on transitions the last day of school; master scheduling is almost completed at both the high school and middle school; counselors, intervention teams, and special education staff are working for the transition from middle school to high school is as seamless as possible for students.. Monthly Recognition Superintendent Bowman recognized our students. We offer a wide range of opportunities for our students and seeing them
participate in the educational process is quite gratifying. The class of 2016 is graduating Friday, May 20 and as of last week, they have earned over $2.2 million in scholarships! We appreciate all they have done to make WPSD a special place and our staff has committed to preparing them for success in next phase in their lives! Upcoming Events Last Day of School - May 18.
